The focus of legislators, authorities and academics on the temporal dimension of sus-tainable actions has led to the progressive re-emerge of the contrast between long-termism and short-termism, that is frequent indeed in corporate law. The orientation to long-term decisions and attempts to stem the short-term ones have been a main point of recent legislative measures on this topic. This paper aims to critically re-evaluate the above contrast, highlighting some of the most relevant areas that most need regulatory interventions and suggesting abandon-ing the frequent short-term disfavor.

During last decades, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies received a growing attention from both businesses and non profit organisations. However, very often organisations fail to correctly implement a successful CSR strategy. Through the analysis of a case-study, this paper tries to demonstrates how a CSR strategy could fail in the long term if a open-loop logic is adopted. The chapter starts with a short discussion of the roots of CSR and then analyzes the role of CSR within the European Union. Subsequently, it focuses on CSR in Germany and contends that hardly any independent CSR movement emerged in the country. Instead, Germany mainly adopted impulses from the international and European discussion which were integrated in the already existing social systems and institutions.

The design and the content of a website that is positively valued by the firm's stakeholders can become a source of competitive advantage. In recent years, information on the extent to which the firm undertakes its social responsibility and environmental protection efforts is gaining increasing interest among the agents with whom it interacts. The aim of this paper is to analyse e-corporate social responsibility in firms listed in the socially responsible investment index FTSE4Good Ibex, focusing on the type of information concerning the corporate social responsibility, which this type of firms provides via their websites.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a model of the Islamic sovereign wealth funds (ISWFs) based on Islamic finance principles to modify the precarious image of SWFs from Muslim countries. The Shariah laws are the cardinal direction for this study.
