We propose a rapid, one-pot method to generate photoluminescent (PL) mesoporous silicon nanoparticles (PSiNPs). Typically, mesoporous silicon (meso-PSi) films, obtained by electrochemical etching of monocrystalline silicon substrates, do not display strong PL because the silicon nanocrystals (nc-Si) in the skeleton are generally too large to display quantum confinement effects. Here we describe an improved approach to form photoluminescent PSiNPs from meso-PSi by partial oxidation in aqueous sodium borate (borax) solutions. Ternary polymer solutions are currently employed for the production of porous structures (e.g. membranes and scaffolds for tissue engineering) via liquid-liquid phase separation techniques. The relation between processing conditions and thermodynamic features of the considered polymeric system determines the morphology of the as-prepared membrane. Therefore, in order to achieve a better control on a porous structure, a deep characterization of the phase behavior of a polymer solution is needed. Positive solutions for nonlinear Robin problems

We consider a parametric Robin problem driven by the p-Laplacian with an indefinite potential and with a superlinear reaction term which does not satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. We look for positive solutions. We prove a bifurcation-type theorem describing the nonexistence, existence and multiplicity of positive solutions as the parameter varies. We also show the existence of a minimal positive solution $\tilde{u}_\lambda$ and establish the monotonicity and continuity of the map $\lambda\to \tilde{u}_\lambda$.

Constant sign and nodal solutions for parametric anisotropic $(p, 2)$-equations

We consider an anisotropic ▫$(p, 2)$▫-equation, with a parametric and superlinear reaction term.Weshow that for all small values of the parameter the problem has at least five nontrivial smooth solutions, four with constant sign and the fifth nodal (sign-changing). In this review, the technique of soil-less cultivation of horticultural crops is analysed, the main differences between this and traditional cultivation techniques are described, and the advantages and disadvantages of each method in relation to the others are identified.
