The present study describes the application of CZE to investigate the portion of labile iron in the following parenteral formulations: iron gluconate, iron saccharate, and iron dextran. Labile iron was detected as Fe(III)-chelate of EDTA at 246 nm. When EDTA was incubated with the formulations before electrophoresis, labile iron, or chelatable iron, respectively, was detected in all formulations, mostly in iron gluconate and iron saccharate. It was observed that the amount of iron released is time- and pH-dependent. Pore Size Analysis of MCM-41 Type Adsorbents by Means of Nitrogen and Argon Adsorption

Methods of nonlocal density functional theory (NLDFT), proposed recently for predictions of adsorption equilibrium and calculations of pore size distributions in micro- and mesoporous materials, were tested on reference MCM-41 materials. Five newly synthesized MCM-41 adsorbents with presumably uniform pore channels varying from 32 to 45 Å were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption at 77 K, and argon adsorption at 77 and 87 K. Preparation and characterization of hexyl methacrylate monolithic columns for CEC

The preparation of hexyl methacrylate (HMA) monolithic columns for CEC separations has been investigated with two initiation systems: (i) ammonium peroxodisulphate and TEMED to activate the polymerization reaction, and (ii) by thermal initiation with AIBN. For both initiators, the influence of composition of porogenic solvent on morphological and chromatographic properties of monoliths was investigated. Two porogenic solvent systems, aqueous and non-aqueous media, were also studied for monolithic beds polymerized with AIBN. Variational methods and critical point theorems are used to discuss existence of infinitely many solutions to boundary value problem for fractional order differential equations where Riemann-Liouville fractional derivatives and Caputo fractional derivatives are used. QM/MM Determination of Kinetic Isotope Effects for COMT-Catalyzed Methyl Transfer Does Not Support Compression Hypothesis

Secondary alpha-D3 kinetic isotope effects calculated by the hybrid AM1/TIP3P/CHARMM method for the reaction of S-adenosylmethionine with catecholate anion in aqueous solution and catalyzed by rat liver catechol O-methyltransferase at 298 K are 0.94 and 0.85, respectively, in good accord with experiment. The large inverse effect for the enzymatic reaction is not due to compression but arises from significant increases in the stretching and bending force constants involving the isotopically substituted atoms of the transferring methyl group as between the reactant complex and the transition structure, larger than for the reaction in water.

Reversible coordination of dioxygen by tripodal tetraamine copper complexes incorporated in a porous silica framework.

The present study reports the synthesis and rational design of porous structured materials by using a templating method. A tetraethoxysilylated tripodal tetraamine (TREN) was covalently incorporated in a silica framework with a double imprint: A surfactant template and a metal ion imprint. The presence of a cationic surfactant (CTAB) endowed the material with a high porosity, and the tripodal or square-pyramidal topology of the ligand was preserved thanks to the use of the silylated Cu(II) complex.
