Non-Monotonic Concentration Dependence of the Electro-Phoretic Mobility of Charged Spheres in Realistic Salt Free Suspensions
2020
Using super-heterodyne Doppler velocimetry with multiple scattering correction, we extend the opti-cally accessible range of concentrations in experiments on colloidal electro-kinetics. We here meas-ured the electro-phoretic mobility and the DC conductivity of aqueous charged sphere suspensions covering about three orders of magnitude in particle concentrations and transmissions as low as 40%. The extended concentration range for the first time allows the demonstration of a non-monotonic con-centration dependence of the mobility for a single particle species. Our observations reconcile previ-ous experimental observations made on other species over restricted concentration ranges. We com-par…
Bounded weak solutions to superlinear Dirichlet double phase problems
2023
AbstractIn this paper we study a Dirichlet double phase problem with a parametric superlinear right-hand side that has subcritical growth. Under very general assumptions on the data, we prove the existence of at least two nontrivial bounded weak solutions to such problem by using variational methods and critical point theory. In contrast to other works we do not need to suppose the Ambrosetti–Rabinowitz condition.
New binary solid dispersion of indomethacin with surfactant polymer: From physical characterization to in vitro dissolution enhancement
2009
This article investigated preparation of solid dispersions containing a poor water-soluble drug, indomethacin (IND), and a new surfactant polymer, polyoxyethylene 32 distearate (POED). Solid dispersions were prepared by the melting method and characterized by DSC, hot-stage microscopy (HSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). DSC and HSM analyses performed on IND/POED physical mixtures indicated that IND could dissolve in liquid POED. The materials showed complete miscibility at liquid state. Combination of DSC, XRD, and SEM revealed that these materials had limited miscibility at the solid state. Up to 20% w/w IND in POED, we did not detect significant modifica…
Stability of tacrolimus ophthalmic solution
2017
Purpose The stability of 0.3-mg/mL tacrolimus ophthalmic solution at different storage temperatures was studied. Methods A sterile ophthalmic solution of 0.3 mg/mL tacrolimus was prepared in triplicate under aseptic conditions by diluting tacrolimus in eye drops. Three aliquots of this solution were transferred into polypropylene bottles and stored at 25, 2–8, or −15 to −25 °C. Samples were collected immediately after preparation and at selected time points and assayed in triplicate using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Samples were also visually examined for macroscopic changes. The 0.3-mg/mL tacrolimus solution was also exposed to acidic treatment and heat to force its degr…
In VitroRelease of Local Anaesthetic and Anti-Inflammatory Drugs from Crosslinked Collagen Based Device
2012
The drug delivery systems that are the object of this article take the form of a hydrophilic matrix (collagen or crosslinked collagen) containing a drug. These devices can be used as The model active agents, were chosen from the range of local anaesthetics (lidocaine hydrochloride), anti-inflammatory (diclofenac sodium salt) and antioxydant (caffeic acid). Whatever the drug affinity for water, in the first time of the experiments, the release appears to be systematically delayed when the matrix is crosslinked. For lidocaine hydrochloride based systems, as the amount of drug increases in the matrix, the high gap concentration between the matrix and the buffer solution promote the diffusion a…
Chemical properties of rutherfordium (Rf) and dubnium (Db) in the aqueous phase
2016
Recent experimental studies of the chemical characterization of the first two transactinide elements, rutherfordium (Rf) and dubnium (Db), conducted atom-at-a-time in aqueous phases are reviewed. A short description on experimental techniques based on partition methods, specifically automated rapid chemical separation systems, is also given. Perspectives for aqueous-phase chemistry experiments on heavier elements are briefly discussed.
Two-Photon Transitions in CW-ENDOR Spectra of Radicals in Fluid Solution
2002
The radical anion of duroquinone (2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-1,4-benzoquinone) was used as a model compound to describe the low-frequency (LF) ENDOR lines observed in many radical systems. These LF lines ...
Simultaneous Removal and Recovery of Metal Ions and Dyes from Wastewater through Montmorillonite Clay Mineral
2019
The main objective of this work was to evaluate the potential of Montmorillonite nanoclay (Mt), readily and inexpensively available, for the simultaneous adsorption (and removal) of two classes of pollutants: metal ions and dyes. The attention was focused on two &ldquo

Solving multiobjective optimization problems with decision uncertainty: an interactive approach
2018
We propose an interactive approach to support a decision maker to find a most preferred robust solution to multiobjective optimization problems with decision uncertainty. A new robustness measure that is understandable for the decision maker is incorporated as an additional objective in the problem formulation. The proposed interactive approach utilizes elements of the synchronous NIMBUS method and is aimed at supporting the decision maker to consider the objective function values and the robustness of a solution simultaneously. In the interactive approach, we offer different alternatives for the decision maker to express her/his preferences related to the robustness of a solution. To conso…
