Impact of pulsed electric fields and high voltage electrical discharges on extraction of high-added value compounds from papaya peels

Abstract Extraction of the nutritionally valuable and antioxidant compounds from papaya peels using conventional aqueous extraction (E) (at 20 °C, 50 °C, and 60 °C) and extraction assisted by pulsed electric field (PEF) or by high voltage electrical discharges (HVED) was studied. Increase of extraction temperature or extraction in basic media (pH = 11) not always resulted in an increase of the yields or TEAC values. E.g., the concentration of proteins and TEAC values at pH = 7 and pH = 11 were noticeably smaller at 60 °C as compared to those measured at 50 °C. We study the behaviour of a charge bound on a graphene annulus under the assumption that the particle can be treated as a massless Dirac electron. The eigenstates and relative energy are found in closed analytical form. Subsequently, we consider a large annulus with radius ρ∈[5000,10,000]a0 in the presence of a static magnetic field orthogonal to its plane and again the eigenstates and eigenenergies of the Dirac electron are found in both analytical and numerical form. A RADIATION CONDITION FOR UNIQUENESS IN A WAVE PROPAGATION PROBLEM FOR 2-D OPEN WAVEGUIDES

We study the uniqueness of solutions of Helmholtz equation for a problem that concerns wave propagation in waveguides. The classical radiation condition does not apply to our problem because the inhomogeneity of the index of refraction extends to infinity in one direction. Also, because of the presence of a waveguide, some waves propagate in one direction with different propagation constants and without decaying in amplitude. Our main result provides an explicit condition for uniqueness which takes into account the physically significant components, corresponding to guided and non-guided waves; this condition reduces to the classical Sommerfeld-Rellich condition in the relevant cases. Abstract Weak electrical currents in the brain flow as a consequence of acquisition, processing and transmission of information by neurons, giving rise to electric and magnetic fields, which can be modeled by the quasi-stationary approximation of Maxwell’s equations. Exact solution of generalized Tavis - Cummings models in quantum optics

Quantum inverse methods are developed for the exact solution of models which describe N two-level atoms interacting with one mode of the quantized electromagnetic field containing an arbitrary number of excitations M. Either a Kerr-type nonlinearity or a Stark-shift term can be included in the model, and it is shown that these two cases can be mapped from one to the other. The method of solution provides a general framework within which many related problems can similarly be solved. Abstract Understanding of the atomic and electronic structure of Ba c Sr 1 − c TiO 3 (BST) solid solutions is important for several applications including the non-volatile ferroelectric memories (dynamic random access memory, DRAM). We present results of ab initio calculations of several spatial arrangements of Ba 0.5 Sr 0.5 TiO 3 solid solutions based on DFT-HF B3PW hybrid method. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of Root ZX in determining working length in presence of normal saline, 0.2% chlorhexidine and 2.5% of sodium hypochlorite. Material and Methods: Sixty extracted, single rooted, single canal human teeth were used. Teeth were decoronated at CEJ and actual canal length determined. Then working length measurements were obtained with Root ZX in presence of normal saline 0.9%, 0.2% chlorhexidine and 2.5% NaOCl. Electrophoresis of model colloidal spheres in low salt aqueous suspension

We report on comprehensive measurements of the electrophoretic mobility μ of a highly charged spherical colloid in deionized or low salt aqueous suspensions, where fluid and crystalline order develops with increased packing fraction Φ. We propose the existence of a 'universal' shape of the μ(Φ) showing three distinct regimes: a logarithmic increase, a plateau and a logarithmic decrease. The position and the height of the plateau are found to be influenced by the particle surface properties and the electrolyte concentration.
