Analysis of pyridoquinoline derivatives by liquid chromatography/atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry

2001

A method using liquid chromatography/atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry (LC/APCI-MS) has been developed for the characterization and determination of pyridoquinoline derivatives 4,6-bis(dimethylaminoethylamino)-2,8,10-trimethylpyrido[3,2-g]quinoline, 4,6-bis(dimethylaminoethoxy)-2,8,10-trimethylpyrido[3,2-g]quinoline and 4,6-bis[(dimethylaminoethyl)thio]-2,8,10-trimethylpyrido[3,2-g] quinoline, all with potential antitumor properties. LC separation was performed on a conventional C18 column using a binary mobile phase composed of acetonitrile and 50 mM aqueous ammonium formate at pH 3. The APCI mass spectra obtained showed that proton addition giving [M + H]+ was the…

Comparison of liquid chromatography using triple quadrupole and quadrupole ion trap mass analyzers to determine pesticide residues in oranges.

2005

Liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole/mass spectrometry (LC-TQ/MS) and liquid chromatography-quadrupole ion trap/mass spectrometry (LC-QIT/MS) for determining bupirimate, hexaflumuron, tebufenpyrad, buprofezin, pyriproxyfen, and fluvalinate in fruits have been compared. The differences in the mass spectra obtained by triple and ion trap quadrupoles are discussed, showing how both of them provide interesting features. The evaluation of the two instruments was carried out by ethyl acetate extraction of oranges spiked with the studied pesticides at LOQ and 10 times the LOQ. Results obtained by LC-TQ/MS correlated well with those obtained by LC-QIT/MS. Recoveries were 70-94% by LC-TQ/MS and 7…

An electrospray ionization mass spectrometric study of the extracellular hemoglobins from Chironomus thummi thummi.

1998

The aquatic larvae of the dipteran, Chironomus thummi thummi contain extracellular hemoglobins which exhibit stage-specific expression. We have used maximum entropy-based deconvolution of the complex, multiply charged electrospray ionization mass spectra, to demonstrate the presence of more than 20 components, ranging in mass from 14,417.3 Da to 17,356.5 Da in the 4th instar larvae. Of the 15 major peaks with intensities > 10 relative to 100 for the 14,417.3 Da-component (CTT-IV), only the 15,528.2-Da peak does not correspond to a known amino acid sequence. Since the number of C. thummi thummi globin genes now stands at 27, including one cDNA and not counting three that must encode known gl…

Gas chromatographic and mass spectrometric analysis of bile acids as trifluoroacetyl-hexafluoroisopropyl and heptafluorobutyryl derivatives

1981

Abstract The gas chromatographic retention times on QF-1 of 38 bile acids in the form of their trifluoroacetyl-hexafluoroisopropyl (TFA-HFIP), trifluoroacetyl-methyl, and heptafluorobutyryl derivatives are given. In general hexafluoroisopropyl ester trifluoroacetates proved superior with regard to simplicity of preparation, absence of artifacts, and resolution on QF-1. The main disadvantages of heptafluorobutyrates were the production of artifacts with some ketonic bile acids and the impossibility of separating any of the dihydroxy bile acids with substituents in the 3,6- and 3,7-positions. Mass spectra of TFA-HFIP derivatives were recorded with both direct and gas chromatographic inlet sys…

Urban organic aerosol composition in Eastern China differs from North to South: Molecular insight from a liquid chromatography-Orbitrap mass spectrom…

2019

Particulate air pollution in China is influencing human health, ecosystem and climate. However, the chemical composition of particulate aerosol, especially of the organic fraction, is still not well understood. In this study, particulate aerosol samples with a diameter ≤ 2.5 μm (PM2.5) were collected in January 2014 in three cities located in Northeast, East and Southeast China, i.e., Changchun, Shanghai and Guangzhou, respectively. Organic aerosol (OA) in the PM2.5 samples was analyzed by ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled to high-resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry in both negative mode (ESI−) and positive mode electrospray ioni…

Characteristic Topological Features of Promoter Capture Hi-C Interaction Networks

2020

Current Hi-C technologies for chromosome conformation capture allow to understand a broad spectrum of functional interactions between genome elements. Although significant progress has been made into analysis of Hi-C data to identify the biologically significant features, many questions still remain open. In this paper we describe analysis methods of Hi-C (specifically PCHi-C) interaction networks that are strictly focused on topological properties of these networks. The main questions we are trying to answer are: (1) can topological properties of interaction networks for different cell types alone be sufficient to distinguish between these types, and what the most important of such propert…

Investigations of Chl a aggregates cross-linked by dioxane in 3-methylpentane

1997

In this work, dioxane-bound aggregates of chlorophyll a are prepared in 3-methylpentane. The properties of the aggregates are studied by using steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopies. The Q -region absorption spectrum of the y chlorophyll a-dioxane aggregate shows four clearly resolvable narrow bands with comparable intensities. The band maxima are located at 683, 689, 698 and 702 nm. The emission spectrum consists of two emission bands centred at 699 and 702 nm suggesting the presence of two types of aggregates. High degree of fluorescence polarization is detected yielding the angles between the absorption transition moments with respect to the 702 nm emission transition moment. The …

Luminescent P-Chirogenic Copper Clusters

2013

P-chirogenic clusters of the cubanes [Cu4I4L4] (L = chiral phosphine) were prepared from (+)- and (-)-ephedrine with L = (S)- or (R)-(R)(Ph)(i-Pr)P (with R = CH3 (seven steps) or C17H35 (10 steps)) with e.e. up to 96%. The X-ray structure of [Cu4I4((R)-(CH3)(Ph)(i-Pr)P)4] confirmed the cubane structure with average Cu···Cu and Cu···I distances of 2.954 and 2.696 Å, respectively. The cubane structure of the corresponding [Cu4I4((S)-(CH3)(Ph)(i-Pr)P)4] was established by the comparison of the X-ray powder diffraction patterns, and the opposite optical activity of the (S)- and (R)-ligand-containing clusters was confirmed by circular dichroism spectroscopy. Small-angle X-ray scattering patterns…

Assessing the impact of copy number variants on miRNA genes in autism by Monte Carlo simulation.

2014

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are childhood neurodevelopmental disorders with complex genetic origins. Previous studies have investigated the role of de novo Copy Number Variants (CNVs) and microRNAs as important but distinct etiological factors in ASD. We developed a novel computational procedure to assess the potential pathogenic role of microRNA genes overlapping de novo CNVs in ASD patients. Here we show that for chromosomes # 1, 2 and 22 the actual number of miRNA loci affected by de novo CNVs in patients was found significantly higher than that estimated by Monte Carlo simulation of random CNV events. Out of 24 miRNA genes over-represented in CNVs from these three chromosomes only …
