Studies on Italian reservoirs

1992

The main morphometric and water quality characteristics of the 221 Italian reservoirs covering an area of at least 0.2 km2 is given. Most of the reservoirs are used for drinking water purposes, especially on the islands of Sicily and Sardinia, where the more important cases of eutrophication have been found. These situations are examined in greater detail, with regard to algal population dynamics, the phosphorus budget and the comparison between theoretical and experimental nutrients loads. -from Authors

An experimental and theoretical study of a heptacoordinated tungsten(VI) complex of a noninnocent phenylenediamine bis(phenolate) ligand

2018

Abstract [W(N2O2)(HN2O2)] (H4N2O2 = N,N′-bis(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2-phenylenediamine) with a noninnocent ligand was formed by reaction of the alkoxide precursor [W(eg)3] (eg = the 1,2-ethanediolate dianion) with two equivalents of ligand. The phenol groups on one of the ligands are completely deprotonated and the ligand coordinates in a tetradentate fashion, whereas the other ligand is tridentate with one phenol having an intact OH group. The molecular structure, magnetic measurements, EPR spectroscopy, and density functional theory calculations indicate that the complex is a stable radical with the odd electron situated on the tridentate amidophenoxide ligand. The formal ox…

The role of tennis coaches in regulating their players' emotional states : an exploratory study

2014

During the past few decades, the ability to perceive, understand, and regulate emotions efficiently has received widespread attention in sport settings (Hanin, 2000; 2004; Robazza, Pellizzari, & Hanin, 2004). Moreover, this line of research has mainly focused on the intrapersonal aspect of emotions. The aim of the present study was to examine the role of tennis coaches in regulating their players’ emotional states. The present study explored (a) tennis players’ emotional states related to their best and worst performances, (b) coaches’ accuracy in assessing players’ emotional experiences within these performances, and (c) self- and interpersonal emotional regulation strategies of tennis coa…

Evidence of Single State Dominance in the Two-Neutrino Double-β Decay of ^{82}Se with CUPID-0.

2019

We report on the measurement of the two-neutrino double-β decay of ^{82}Se performed for the first time with cryogenic calorimeters, in the framework of the CUPID-0 experiment. With an exposure of 9.95 kg yr of Zn^{82}Se, we determine the two-neutrino double-β decay half-life of ^{82}Se with an unprecedented precision level, T_{1/2}^{2ν}=[8.60±0.03(stat) _{-0.13}^{+0.19}(syst)]×10^{19}  yr. The very high signal-to-background ratio, along with the detailed reconstruction of the background sources allowed us to identify the single state dominance as the underlying mechanism of such a process, demonstrating that the higher state dominance hypothesis is disfavored at the level of 5.5σ.

TTIP - szansa czy zagrożenie dla Unii Europejskiej, jej przedsiębiorców i obywateli? Próba analizy skutków umowy

2017

Transatlantyckie Partnerstwo w dziedzinie Handlu i Inwestycji (TTIP) to jedna z najbardziej obszernych i kontrowersyjnych współczesnych umów.

Observation of the Early Structural Changes Leading to the Formation of Protein Superstructures.

2014

Formation of superstructures in protein aggregation processes has been indicated as a general pathway for several proteins, possibly playing a role in human pathologies. There is a severe lack of knowledge on the origin of such species in terms of both mechanisms of formation and structural features. We use equine lysozyme as a model protein, and by combining spectroscopic techniques and microscopy with X-ray fiber diffraction and ab initio modeling of Small Angle X-ray Scattering data, we isolate the partially unfolded state from which one of these superstructures (i.e., particulate) originates. We reveal the low-resolution structure of the unfolded state and its mechanism of formation, hi…

Codification of the civil law in the 19th century United States

2021

“A code, or not a code—that is the question!”. Many countries asked themselves that very question. In the United-States that question was asked during the American codification movement, and answered, in chronological, with the civil codes of Louisiana from 1808, 1825; the Code of Georgia from 1862; the Revised Civil Code of Louisiana of 1870, the Civil Code of California of 1872, the Civil Code of Dakota Territory of 1872, the Revised Code of North Dakota of 1895, the Civil Code of Montana of 1895, and the Revised Code of South Dakota of 1903. One other civil code in is the Field Civil Code, also called the 1860 Project of Civil Code for the state of New York. Even though it was never adop…

Economic History of the United States

2019

How did the United States of America arrive where it is today? Growing from an extremely poor and sparsely populated land into the wealthiest nation on earth, USA is a colonial success story. But there is more to the story than economic growth; poverty, inequality, racial conflict, declining fertility, violence, and economic instability are outcomes of economic decisions that were made in the past. During this course we will go over the characteristics, the main facts of the US economy that can be credited for its exceptional historic economic growth with an eye to understand its current economic conditions. We will break down the individual components of the US economy that have contribute…

Sprawozdanie finansowe jednostki mikro a potrzeby informacyjne użytkowników

2016

Wprowadzone zmiany w znowel…

Changes in the receptor profile of the lower urinary tract in the aging male

2004

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is one of th e most common effects of aging in men. Epidemiologists estimate that about one quarter of all men over 50 years of age suffer from BPH-derived voiding symptoms. Future demographic developments, with higher relative shares of older people, will increase the socioeconomic impact of this disease. Polder et al. (1994) calculated for the Netherlands that the treatment costs of BPH will double by 2035. Office visits for BPH related symptoms increased in the USA from 1.4 million in 1990 to 6 million in 1995, reflecting the increased public awareness of the problem and the increased desire for treatment (Kaplan et al. 1996).
