This paper introduces two general models for computing centiles when the response variable Y can take values between 0 and 1, inclusive of 0 or 1. The models developed are more flexible alternatives to the beta inflated distribution. The first proposed model employs a flexible four parameter logit skew Student t (logitSST) distribution to model the response variable Y on the unit interval (0, 1), excluding 0 and 1. This model is then extended to the inflated logitSST distribution for Y on the unit interval, including 1. Autocatalytic reaction-diffusion processes in restricted geometries

We study the dynamics of a system made up of particles of two different species undergoing irreversible quadratic autocatalytic reactions: $A + B \to 2A$. We especially focus on the reaction velocity and on the average time at which the system achieves its inert state. By means of both analytical and numerical methods, we are also able to highlight the role of topology in the temporal evolution of the system.
Nonlinear Relaxation in Population Dynamics

We analyze the nonlinear relaxation of a complex ecosystem composed of many interacting species. The ecological system is described by generalized Lotka-Volterra equations with a multiplicative noise. The transient dynamics is studied in the framework of the mean field theory and with random interaction between the species. We focus on the statistical properties of the asymptotic behaviour of the time integral of the i-th population and on the distribution of the population and of the local field.
Evaporation channel as a tool to study fission dynamics

The dynamics of the fission process is expected to affect the evaporation residue cross section because of the fission hindrance due to the nuclear viscosity. Systems of intermediate fissility constitute a suitable environment for testing such hypothesis, since they are characterized by evaporation residue cross sections comparable or larger than the fission ones. The interfacial free energy is a central quantity in crystallization from the meta-stable melt. In suspensions of charged colloidal spheres, nucleation and growth kinetics can be accurately measured from optical experiments. In previous work, from this data effective non-equilibrium values for the interfacial free energy between the emerging bcc-nuclei and the adjacent melt in dependence on the chemical potential difference between melt phase and crystal phase were derived using classical nucleation theory. On the discreet spectrum of fractional quantum hydrogen atom in two dimensions

We consider a fractional generalization of two-dimensional (2D) quantum-mechanical Kepler problem corresponding to 2D hydrogen atom. Our main finding is that the solution for discreet spectrum exists only for $\mu>1$ (more specifically $1 < \mu \leq 2$, where $\mu=2$ corresponds to "ordinary" 2D hydrogenic problem), where $\mu$ is the L\'evy index. We show also that in fractional 2D hydrogen atom, the orbital momentum degeneracy is lifted so that its energy starts to depend not only on principal quantum number $n$ but also on orbital $m$. This study investigated the overall patterns of variation across seven oral proficiency levels of 1,263 Japanese EFL learners and native English speakers. The methodological approach combined a learner corpus, language processing techniques, and multivariate statistical analyses to identify patterns of language use. The largest spoken learner corpus in Japan, the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology Japanese Learner English (NICT JLE) Corpus was used for the analysis. The success or failure of human collective action often depends on the cooperation tendencies of individuals in groups, and on the information that individuals have about each other's cooperativeness. However, it is unclear whether these two factors have an interactive effect on cooperation dynamics. Using a decision-making experiment, we confirm that groups comprising individuals with higher cooperation tendencies cooperate at a higher level than groups comprising individuals with low cooperation tendencies. In spite of the success of the standard wavelet transform (WT) in image processing in recent years, the efficiency of its representation is limited by the spatial isotropy of its basis functions built in the horizontal and vertical directions.
