Empirical Evidence of Marketing Practices in the Nonprofit Sector: The Case of Performing Arts
2001
ABSTRACT Arts organisations are adopting marketing practices as international literature suggests. However, there is an important lack of studies proving this. So, the overall goal of this article is to examine how performing arts institutions apply marketing principles in their management process. Specifically, we propose to group these organisations according to their implication with marketing practices. An empirical research design using univariate and multivariate techniques was drawn. The results showed that performing arts organisations are adopting marketing tools but with different levels of implication. So, the three groups found were labelled neutral, involved and image conscious…
The effect of marketing communication on business relationship loyalty
2017
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to create a new understanding of industrial business-to-business (B2B) relationships by connecting the theoretical streams of marketing communications and relationship marketing. Design/methodology/approach The theoretical framework consists of links between customer-perceived value, marketing communication quality, channel effectiveness, and customer loyalty. The age of the business relationship is also taken into consideration. Empirical testing is based on global survey data (n=121) col…
Training strategic thinking: Experimental evidence
2014
Abstract Strategic behavior is crucial for strong firm performance, especially in competitive environments. Thus, designing a good strategy is a key issue for firms. Designing a strategy requires a combination of strategic thinking—which involves analyzing a firm's strategic environment, defining a vision of its future, and devising new ideas to out-think competitors – and strategic planning – which implies using these ideas to formulate a business plan. Although many firms excel at strategic planning, few devote enough resources to strategic thinking, which results in strategic insanity (i.e., firms repeatedly applying the same strategies with the expectation of different outcomes). To fos…
A Broad Analysis of Marketing Strategies for their Incorporation as Activities in a User Centred Process
2014
Abstract The goal of this paper is to analyze the most important Marketing Strategies that can be used for the development of interactive systems. First of all, an extensive Mapping Study has been achieved, in order to search what relationship exists between Marketing and Usability. Furthermore, a study of the state of the art has been achieved to discover whether Marketing Techniques and HCI concepts already co-exist in the existing bibliography, and to what extent. Finally, a SWOT analysis has been presented of the most important marketing strategies that exist on the Market: Product, Price, Promotion and Place.
The use of Web analytics for digital marketing performance measurement
2015
This study proposes that the benefits gained from marketing performance measurement are determined by how an organization exploits the metrics system under specific circumstances. For this purpose, the authors review performance measurement literature and apply it to the use of Web analytics, which offers companies a metrics system to measure digital marketing performance. By performing an in-depth investigation of the use of Web analytics in industrial companies, the study shows that an organization's efforts to use marketing metrics systems and the resulting outcomes cannot be understood without considering the reasoning behind the chosen metrics, the processing of metrics data, and the o…

Consumer perceptions of grocery retail formats and brands
2001
Grocery retailers are operating in a slow‐growth market. The pursuit of market share is one of the main concerns for retail managers. The retail structure is becoming increasingly standardized and homogenous because of concentration of the ownership of stores. Cultural differences remain, however, between different European countries. Cultural factors influence the success of a positioning strategy. This study examined how consumers perceive grocery retail formats and brands in Finland. Data from personal interviews were used in highlighting the consumer perspective. Consumers perceive meaningful differences in various store formats, meanwhile store brands are seen as quite similar. Consume…
Mucus and Cell-Penetrating Nanoparticles Embedded in Nano-into-Micro Formulations for Pulmonary Delivery of Ivacaftor in Patients with Cystic Fibrosis
2017
Here, mucus-penetrating nanoparticles (NPs) for pulmonary administration of ivacaftor in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) were produced with the dual aim of enhancing ivacaftor delivery to the airway epithelial cells, by rapid diffusion through the mucus barrier, and at the same time, promoting ivacaftor lung cellular uptake. Pegylated and Tat-decorated fluorescent nanoparticles (FNPs) were produced by nanoprecipitation, starting from two synthetic copolymers, and showed nanometric sizes (∼70 nm), a slightly negative ζ potential, and high cytocompatibility toward human bronchial epithelium cells. After having showed the significant presence of poly(ethylene glycol) chains and Tat protein …
