Abstract · Topographic Atlas of Soknopaiou Nesos : 3D Survey of the town. Methodologies of data acquisition and detection systems for the archaeological documentation (Season 2019) · The article concerns the topography research project of the city of Soknopaiou Nesos in Fayyum. In particular, the goal of the project is the realization of a digital knowledge and conservation plan of the entire archaeological the site using innovative digital survey techniques and then the creation of a topographic atlas necessary for the realization of a ceramic intrasite survey of the site. In particular, this article illustrates the methodologies adopted for the 3D survey and the results achieved in the 20…

Oral health knowledge, attitudes and practice in 12-year-old schoolchildren

2007

Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the association between knowledge, attitudes and practice of oral health in 12-year-old schoolchildren, and to analyse the findings in terms of the conventional KAP health-education model and of the critical approach. Study design: This study has a cross sectional design. The study participants were 1105 randomly selected 12-year-old children resident in the region of Galicia in Spain. For data collection, five teams of one dentist and one assistant were formed. The dentist carried out the physical examination and the assistant helped the subjects to answer the questionnaire. Knowledge, attitudes and practice were assessed, as well as ora…

L'Espagne, un nouveau pays d'immigration : l'exemple des immigrées roumaines (analyse comparative)

2013

This survey focuses on the immigration phenomenon in Spain and its impact on contemporary Spanish society. Studying how numerous immigrants have been settling in Spain is a way to account for the evolution of Spanish society: on the one hand by analysing how and why a country that traditionally used to export its labour-force could attract immigrants; and on the other hand by examining how Spain has been managing these influxes. This phenomenon shall be approached thanks to the case of Romanian women. For the last couple of years, Romanians have been the largest group of foreign nationals in Spain. I shall herein set to describe the various stages and characteristics of Romanian immigration…

Development of a nomogram to estimate the quality of life in asthmatic children using the Childhood Asthma Control Test

2016

Background: Pediatric Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (PAQLQ) provides detailed information on QoL in asthmatic children, whereas Childhood Asthma Control Test (C-ACT) Questionnaire is the most validated instrument for asthma control. No study assessed the relationship between C-ACT and QoL in children by means of those instruments. The aim of this study was to determine whether a QoL estimation is possible using the C-ACT questionnaire in asthmatic children. Methods: Medical history, spirometry, C-ACT, and PAQLQ were assessed in 144 (60% male) outpatient asthmatic children from September 2011 to November 2014. A generalized linear model (GLM) for the prediction of PAQLQ was obtained t…

DETECTION OF THE DIFFUSION AND KNOWLEDGE OF ENERGY DRINKS, CONDUCTED THROUGH A STATISTICAL SURVEY ON PALERMO AREA

2019

In recent years energy drinks consumption has increased, due to their ability to improve physical and cognitive performance. Unfortunately, because of poor or incorrect information, people are not always aware of the harmful consequences of these drinks such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, tachycardia until death. Therefore, we conducted a statistical survey in Palermo area, submitting a paper questionnaire to 1003 people. Data analysis shows that: only 29% of the audience never consumed energy drinks, while 71% tried them at least once in their life, especially in adolescence; 81% never or rarely drink them, 14% drink them a few times a month, while 5% drink them several times a week; …

A Three-Dimensional Object Point Process for Detection of Cosmic Filaments

2007

Summary We propose to apply an object point process to delineate filaments of the large scale structure in red shift catalogues automatically. We illustrate the feasibility of the idea on an example of the recent 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey, describe the procedure and characterize the results.

Bayesian models for data missing not at random in health examination surveys

2018

In epidemiological surveys, data missing not at random (MNAR) due to survey nonresponse may potentially lead to a bias in the risk factor estimates. We propose an approach based on Bayesian data augmentation and survival modelling to reduce the nonresponse bias. The approach requires additional information based on follow-up data. We present a case study of smoking prevalence using FINRISK data collected between 1972 and 2007 with a follow-up to the end of 2012 and compare it to other commonly applied missing at random (MAR) imputation approaches. A simulation experiment is carried out to study the validity of the approaches. Our approach appears to reduce the nonresponse bias substantially…

Flexible latent trait aggregation to analyze employability after the Ph.D. in Italy

2015

The analysis of satisfaction, employability and economic perspectives after the Ph.D. in Italy has not received adequate attention in the past, especially in terms of comparison among universities. To analyze these aspects, in this paper we consider data from the survey ‘Statistica in TEma di Laureati e LAvoro’ on doctors who achieved the title on 2007, 2008 and 2009 [CILEA, Laureati STELLA, indagine occupazionale post-dottorato, dottori di ricerca 2007–2008, Tech. To deal with the complex, multidimensional nature of the concept, we propo…
