Skull and Encephalic Injuries Caused by Beach Umbrellas: Case Reports and Review of Literature

This study reports two unusual cases of skull-encephalic injuries in bathers that were caused by violent impacts with beach umbrellas. The first case concerned a 36-year-old man who, while lying on a sun bed, was struck on his left temple by a beach umbrella, which had been blown away by a gust of wind. The second case concerned a six-year-old child who was struck on the right temporal region while he was playing on the sand. Both subjects died. A review of the literature was carried out. Various skull and brain injuries caused by several objects were found, but no injuries caused by beach umbrellas were detected. There were only cases of injuries caused by normal umbrellas. The dedication of a Church is not the only rite that is used for the initiation of a new place of Christian worship. At the beginning of the construction of a building, liturgical sources provide for the Rite of Foundation of a Church in which blessings are asked on both the workers and also on the future edifice. This paper gives a comparative analysis of prayers used in the rites of the Byzantine-Greek and Latin traditions. Although both traditions have different theological emphasis they also have similarities too. Kontekstem badań było to, że komentatorzy Księgi Ezechiela nie są zgodni w sprawie struktury badanych tekstów i proponują odmienne schematy. Celem badań stało się odkrycie struktury, którą starożytny autor natchniony zawarł w tekście. By osiągnąć założony cel, zastosowano metodę retoryki hebrajskiej, którą opracował Roland Meynet. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań udało się odkryć, że sprofanowana świątynia ma strukturę paralelno-koncentryczną, składającą się z 9 elementów (A, B, C, D, E, D’, C’, B’, A’), natomiast dolina suchych kości też ma strukturę paralelno-koncentryczną, na którą składa się 5 elementów (A, B, C, B’, A’). Si esamina l'architettura religiosa di età romana imperiale a Sabratha partendo da un'analisi dei singoli edifici templari, con considerazioni di ordine tipologico e cronologico, valutando i riflessi sull'urbanistica della città. The Roman religious architecture of the Imperial period at Sabratha is examined, moving from an analysis of each building, with considerations about the tipology and the chronology of the buildings and evaluating the consequences on the city's urbanism.

L'architettura religiosa di Sabratha è indagata tenendo conto tanto del contesto urbanistico nel quale sono inseriti gli edifici sacri quanto del contesto storico e religioso. L'indagine muove da una riflessioni sulle origini dell'emporio punico nel corso del quale si rivedono alcune ipotesi concernenti le principali divinità cittadine. Nel 1957, in occasione di una campagna di scavo in Contrada Mango di Segesta, Vincenzo Tusa rinvenne due frammenti litici di membrature architettoniche miniaturistiche, appartenenti ad un fregio dorico e ad una cornice, parimenti dorica. The story of the metopes of Temple C at Selinus, from the discovery by S. Angell and W. Harris in the spring of 1823 to their landing in the port of Palermo, is well known trough Marconi studies. The aim of this paper is to analyze the exhibition history of Selinus reliefs, from the first arrangement in the Museum of the ‘Regia Università’ to their placement in the National Museum of Palermo (‘Museo Archeologico Regionale A. Salinas’ since 1977).
