L’oggetto del presente lavoro è il monitoraggio della cattedrale di San Gerlando di Agrigento, duomo eretto tra i secoli XI e XII, che sorge nella parte più alta della collina di Girgenti. Lo studio è significativo poiché, nel corso dei secoli la costruzione è stata soggetta a interventi di ristrutturazione e di consolidamento, resi necessari dai danni arrecati da frane che, in più occasioni, hanno coinvolto il territorio su cui essa sorge. Dal 2010 la chiesa è chiusa al culto per copiosi eventi franosi e idrogeologici che hanno allarmato ulteriormente anche la Protezione Civile. Forest fires are a major concern in the Mediterranean regions and decision-makers devote large financial resources of the overall public forestry expenditure to their management. The research aims to provide an empirical contribution to the knowledge about the economic benefits deriving from fire protection of forest ecosystems. A case study is presented where we measured the TEV of reducing fire hazards to a cork-oak forest localised in a Sicilian protected area, using a dichotomous choice question in a Contingent Valuation Study. Introduction : Body Mass Index (BMI) impact on gait recovery after total hip and total knee arthroplasty (THA and TKA) remains misunderstood. Few studies have analyzed the influence of BMI on the recovery of hip and knee range of motion (ROM) during gait or walking speed after THA and TKA. Our objective was to assess this impact preoperatively and post-operatively using both 3D gait analysis and clinical assessment.
