Background This study examines how dogs observe images of natural scenes containing living creatures (wild animals, dogs and humans) recorded with eye gaze tracking. Because dogs have had limited exposure to wild animals in their lives, we also consider the natural novelty of the wild animal images for the dogs. Methods The eye gaze of dogs was recorded while they viewed natural images containing dogs, humans, and wild animals. The aim of this study is to assess the role of readers’ proficiency and of the base-word distributional properties on eye-movement behavior. Sixty-two typically developing children, attending 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, were asked to read derived words in a sentence context. Target words were nouns derived from noun bases (e.g., umorista, ‘humorist’), which in Italian are shared by few derived words, and nouns derived from verb bases (e.g., punizione, ‘punishment’), which are shared by about 50 different inflected forms and several derived words. The study of human movements is the object of numerous searches, among them, the study of the face movements and more particularly the eye kinetics estimate represents an important part. A study realized by artificial vision is presented here. It allows to characterize eye movements in normal shooting condition (mobility of the subject, background lighting). Our approach allows to obtain in a simple way the localization of the iris and the characterization of their movement in the three dimensional shape. The absolute 3D movement of eyeballs and their relative movement with regard to the head are obtained, even if this one are moving.

However, consumers usually make food choices in more complex environments, between many different products, and different factors can influence their choices. A Region-based Gauss-Newton Approach to Real-Time Monocular Multiple Object Tracking

We propose an algorithm for real-time 6DOF pose tracking of rigid 3D objects using a monocular RGB camera. The key idea is to derive a region-based cost function using temporally consistent local color histograms. While such region-based cost functions are commonly optimized using first-order gradient descent techniques, we systematically derive a Gauss-Newton optimization scheme which gives rise to drastically faster convergence and highly accurate and robust tracking performance. Recent research by Taneja et al. suggested that digital infrastructures diminish the generational gap in news use by counteracting preference structures. We expand on this seminal work by arguing that an infrastructural perspective requires overcoming limitations of highly aggregated web tracking data used in prior research. We analyze the individual browsing histories of two representative samples of German Internet users collected in 2012 ( N = 2970) and 2018 ( N = 2045) and find robust evidence for a smaller generational gap in online news use than commonly assumed. Future use of silicon photomultipliers for Kaos at MAMI and P¯ANDA at FAIR

A characterisation of scintillating fibres with silicon photomultiplier read-out was performed in view of their possible application in fibre tracking detector systems. Such a concept is being considered for the Kaos spectrometer at the Mainz Microtron MAMI and as a time-of-flight start detector for the hypernuclear physics programme at the PANDA experiment of the FAIR project. Results on particle detection effciency and time resolution are discussed. In summary, the silicon devices are very suitable for the detection of the low light yield from scintillating fibres insofar a trigger scheme is found to cope with the noise rate characteristics.
An EKF Based Method for Path Following in Turbulent Air

An innovative use of the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is proposed to perform both accurate path following and adequate disturbance rejection in turbulent air. The tuned up procedure employs simultaneously two different EKF: the first one estimates gust disturbances, the second one estimates modified aircraft parameters. The first filter, by using measurements gathered in turbulent air, estimates both aircraft states and wind components. The second one, by using the estimated disturbances, obtains command laws that are able to reject disturbances.
