L’unità di ricerca di Palermo è stata partecipe dell’iniziativa “ROMA 20-25. Nuovi cicli di vita per la Metropoli”, che ha chiamato ventiquattro scuole di architettura, università italiane e internazionali, a interpretare il presente urbano di Roma e immaginarne il futuro attraverso un workshop internazionale di progettazione e una mostra. Il progetto “ROMA 20-25 Nuovi cicli di vita per la Metropoli” è stato promosso dall’Assessorato alla Trasformazione Urbana del Comune di Roma e dal MAXXI, Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI secolo. L’area di progetto che è stata affidata all’UdR di Palermo è quella del quadrante n.12, caratterizzata dall’essere attraversata da est a ovest dal fiume Tevere…

In the last decades, the notion of the landscape has been widely expanded. This has led to a meaningless position according to which landscape does not exist because it is everywhere. The essay attempts to balance the useful new amplified conception of landscape. The ideas of Gilles Clement, the fusion of architecture and landscape symptomatically achieved by Alvaro Siza's Leca swimming pools are considered. Finally, focus is given to modern so-called landscape urbanism.

The aim of this paper it to demonstrate that the interventions of “ephemeral designing” - seen in the key of potential activators of shared forms of bottom-up urban regeneration - may be also read as sequence of pop-up actions (flames); but capable in conferring to the marginal urban spaces - even if temporarily - a “meta-real” shape of the desirable effects of that urban transformation they would to reach in a real implementation.
