Adaptative Image Flow in Collaborative Medical Telediagnosis Environments
2011
International audience; Telemedicine, the application of telecommunication in the medicine field, has been developed to meet major problems encountered in connecting doctors with patients and other medical staff. Having a robust and efficient telemedical system has always been a challenge. The system needs to make the members in different locations capable of sharing medical data efficiently and without errors. In this work, we present a telemedical system that overcomes these challenges. We deploy a collaborative system and adapt data to store, visualize, modify and transfer fluorescence images efficiently and robustly at the same time. We also make the system adaptive to communicate across…
Roadmap on 3D integral imaging: Sensing, processing, and display
2020
This Roadmap article on three-dimensional integral imaging provides an overview of some of the research activities in the field of integral imaging. The article discusses various aspects of the field including sensing of 3D scenes, processing of captured information, and 3D display and visualization of information. The paper consists of a series of 15 sections from the experts presenting various aspects of the field on sensing, processing, displays, augmented reality, microscopy, object recognition, and other applications. Each section represents the vision of its author to describe the progress, potential, vision, and challenging issues in this field.
Infracyanine Green vs. Brilliant Blue G in Inverted Flap Surgery for Large Macular Holes: A Long-Term Swept-Source OCT Analysis
2020
Background and Objectives: To compare the long-term toxicity of infracyanine green (IFCG) to brilliant blue G (BBG) in inverted internal limiting membrane flap surgery (I-ILMFS) for large, full-thickness macular holes (FTMHs). Materials and Methods: Prospective randomized study including 39 eyes with &ge
Towards a System to Monitor the Virus’s Aerosol-Type Spreading
2021
Recent scientific studies indicate that attention should be paid to the indoor spread of the Covid-19 virus. It is recommended to reduce the number of visitors to the premises and to provide frequent ventilation of the premises. The problem is that it is not known what the risk of infection is in a particular room at a specific time, when and what actions should be taken to reduce the risk. We offer a system that helps monitor the conditions in the premises with the help of sensors, calculate the risk of infection and provide information to reduce the infection risk. We give an insight into the created prototype with data collection from public spaces and data visualization according to use…
From decoding a graph to processing a multimodal message: Interacting with data visualization in the news media
2020
Abstract Data visualisation – in the forms of graphs, charts, and maps – represents a text type growing in prevalence and impact in many cultural domains; education, journalism, business, PR, and more. Research on data visualisation reception is scarce, particularly that related to interactive and dynamic forms of data visualisation in digital media. Taking an approach inspired by grounded theory, in this article I investigate the ways in which young students interact with data visualisations found in digital news media. Combining observations from reading sessions with ten in-depth interviews, I investigate how the informants read, interpreted, and responded emotionally to data visualisati…
SILKNOWViz: Spatio-Temporal Data Ontology Viewer
2019
Interactive visualization of spatio-temporal data is a very active area that has experienced remarkable advances in the last decade. This is due to the emergence of fields of research such as big data and advances in hardware that allow better analysis of information. This article describes the methodology followed and the design of an open source tool, which in addition to interactively visualizing spatio-temporal data that are represented in an ontology, allows the definition of what to visualize and how to do it. The tool allows selecting, filtering and visualizing in a graphical way the entities of the ontology with spatiotemporal data, as well as the instances related to them. The grap…

Applicability of the MASK-Air® App to Severe Asthma Treated with Biologic Molecules: A Pilot Study
2022
MASK-air®, a good practice of the DG Santé, has been fully validated in allergic rhinitis, but little is known about its applicability to asthmatics. We explored whether the MASK-air® application is applicable to patients with severe asthma. Severe asthmatics were proposed to use the MASK-air® application for 6 months, along with best practice treatment. Treatment of the patients was not changed based on the application results. The evolution of the visual analogue scales (VAS) for asthma, shortness of breath, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, work, and sleep was monitored using MASK-air®. Adherence to MASK-air® and to the asthma treatment was also checked. Thirteen patie…
Multidimensional Integral Imaging and Recognition in Degraded Environments
2018
We present an overview of our work on multidimensional integral imaging systems. Integral-imaging-based multidimensional optical sensing and imaging will be described for 3-D visualization, seeing through obscurations, material inspection, augmented reality, biomedical applications, and object recognition from microscales to long-range imaging.
