Un computer non più calcolatore. Linguistica e informatica
2004
Global RDF Vector Space Embeddings
2017
Vector space embeddings have been shown to perform well when using RDF data in data mining and machine learning tasks. Existing approaches, such as RDF2Vec, use local information, i.e., they rely on local sequences generated for nodes in the RDF graph. For word embeddings, global techniques, such as GloVe, have been proposed as an alternative. In this paper, we show how the idea of global embeddings can be transferred to RDF embeddings, and show that the results are competitive with traditional local techniques like RDF2Vec. peerReviewed
Challenges of Serendipity in Recommender Systems
2016
Most recommender systems suggest items similar to a user profile, which results in boring recommendations limited by user preferences indicated in the system. To overcome this problem, recommender systems should suggest serendipitous items, which is a challenging task, as it is unclear what makes items serendipitous to a user and how to measure serendipity. The concept is difficult to investigate, as serendipity includes an emotional dimension and serendipitous encounters are very rare. In this paper, we discuss mentioned challenges, review definitions of serendipity and serendipity-oriented evaluation metrics. The goal of the paper is to guide and inspire future efforts on serendipity in r…
Agents driven smart sensors
2017
Any physical area (like schools, home, hospitals etc.) that uses either mobile devices, sensors, embedded systems or computers to gather information from the users and the environment and eventually, adapt according to the new information gained. [1] Smart spaces compromises of heterogeneous hardware which often leads to the issues of interoperability. One way of reducing the heterogeneity between the sensors is to introduce the semantic interface as sensors default interface. Semantic Web provides a common interface and for-mat for data representation so that one can decrease the heterogeneity of data and increase data reusability. [2] With the Smart Spaces, it is important to use only the…

Linguistic Aspects in Web Counselling
2013
The global net system has provided new and expanded means of communication incorporating all forms of discourse, including medical interaction. However, due to the tentative nature of medical discourse, online relations between professionals and their patients still encounter limitations. Standard procedures between the doctor and patient allowed the doctor to assume an authoritative role as his position provided personal remedy or advice to the patient at hand. Consequently, he was relied upon to solve the initial complaint, and this capacity rendered the patient as the dependent party. The responsibility of this exchange was to counsel, and the doctor was therefore required to use accessi…
On personalized adaptation of learning environments
2017
This work is devoted to the development of personalized training systems. A major problem in learning environments is applying the same approach to all students: i.e., teaching materials, time for their mastering, and a training program that is designed in the same way for everyone. Although, each student is individual, has his own skills, ability to assimilate the material, his preferences and other. Recently, recommendation systems, of which the system of personalized learning is a part, have become widespread in the learning environments. On the one hand, this shift is due to mathematical approaches, such as machine learning and data mining, that are used in such systems while, on the ot…
Practices in research, surveillance and control of neglected tropical diseases by One Health approaches: A survey targeting scientists from French-sp…
2021
One health (OH) approaches have increasingly been used in the last decade in the fight against zoonotic neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). However, descriptions of such collaborations between the human, animal and environmental health sectors are still limited for French-speaking tropical countries. The objective of the current survey was to explore the diversity of OH experiences applied to research, surveillance and control of NTDs by scientists from French-speaking countries, and discuss their constraints and benefits. Six zoonotic NTDs were targeted: echinococcoses, trypanosomiases, leishmaniases, rabies, Taenia solium cysticercosis and leptospiroses. Invitations to fill in an online q…

Formaciones sociales y opresión en Marx
2018
The text explains the difference between Marx?s concept of «oppression» and others as «coercion» by Durkheim or «domination» by Weber. The article then establishes, in a methodical way, the centrality of a passage from Capital, in which three different theories on «oppression» appear. It?s explained that two of them are rather a philosophical antinomy. The other, relative to the heteronomy of social time, can be completed by defining the heteronomy of social space, which gives it analytical virtuality. Some examples are given.
