Comparing the access conditions for minimum income support in four EU member states for national, EU and non-EU citizens
2019
This research analyses the conditions imposed on national, EU and non-EU citizens who wish to access minimum income (MI) benefits within four EU Member States, specifically within Finland, France, Ireland and Spain. The primary aim is to identify and compare the required MI access conditions. Furthermore, focus is given to the residence requisites, which are discussed in relation to relevant supranational regulations in order to detect possible multilevel implications. The paper concludes with the identification of different MI conditions, such as stricter age requisites in France and Spain. Moreover, the study of national cases allows for consideration of how the EU social protection floor…
Johtajien työn eettinen kuormittavuus ja sen yhteydet työhyvinvointiin
2011
Tutkimuksessa selvitetiin suomalaisten johtajien työn eettistä kuormittavuutta kahden kuvaajan avulla. Ensinnäkin tutkittiin, kuinka usein johtajat kohtaavat työssään eettisesti haastavia tilanteita, joihin liittyy kokemus eettisestä dilemmasta (johtaja ei tiedä, mikä on oikea toimintatapa tai tietää, mutta joutuu syystä tai toisesta toimimaan sääntöjen, normien tai arvojen vastaisesti). Toiseksi selvitetiin, kuinka stressaaviksi johtajat nämä tilanteet kokevat. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin lisäksi eettisen kuormittavuuden yhteyttä johtajien työhyvinvointiin (työuupumus ja työn imu) sekä eettisten dilemmojen yleisyyttä johtamistyön eri tilanteissa. Kaikkiaan 902 eri alojen johtajaa ympäri Suo…
Education for optimized Life Cycle Management : The Project e-CIRP and its insights into embedding circular economy aspects to product design via tea…
2022
Publisher Copyright: © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences. The integration of circular economy-based life cycle management (LCM) into product design and optimisation is essential for the transformation towards a circular economy (CE). However, companies often lack the expertise to adapt life-cycle design (LCD) thinking in their business operations and are in need of respective capacity building. To close this apparent gap is the aim of the project e-CirP (Embedding Circular Economy into Product Design and Optimization) where LUT University, Fraunhofer, Technical University of Denmark, University of Padova, Delft University of Technology, University of Helsinki and Metso Outotec have wor…
Meaningful work, pleasure in working, and the moderating effects of deep acting and COVID-19 on nurses' work
2022

Reconnect. Empathy mapping in the era of COVID-19
2022
In this paper, we present an exploratory study conducted during the first-year product design course at the University of Palermo aimed at developing a new version of the empathy map (Empathy Map 5 Senses - EM5S) after the COVID-19 outbreak. The research had two main goals: focus freshmen students’ attention on senses that have been temporarily excluded because of social distancing and masks, and collect data about the importance of every single purpose and how their presence changes the quality of familiar experiences such as commuting to work, working, having lunches and dinners, having fun and taking care of themselves. From the first sample of 210 EM5S, data shows the different roles of…
Should the government pay more to public sector employees? Impact of subjective, stereotypicalwage and core self-evaluations on job satisfaction and …
2018
There are many stereotypes about work in public sector. It is supposedly more stable, less hectic but in the same time offers smaller wages in comparison to a work in private sector. But does it provide more satisfaction to employees? The current study compares work satisfaction (Warr, Cook, & Wall, 1979) and subjective Well-being (Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin, 1985) as dependent on subjective and objective wage evaluations (Brown, Gardner, Oswald, & Qian, 2008; Walczak, 2017) and Core Self-Evaluations (Judge, Locke, & Durham, 1997; Walczak & Derbis, 2015). On a sample of N=625 employees (of which 18%; n=118 were employed in public sector) an impact of subjective (rather than objective…
Remote work: the necessity of today
2021
Global pandemic COVID-19 has increased the level of digitalization which allows public and private sector organizations in the world to employ people remotely outside office premises and crossing borders of the world. Hierarchical Analysis of Forms of Support for Employees in the Field of Health Protection and Quality of Work during the COVID-19 Pandemic and the De…
2022
Issues of employee support during the COVID-19 pandemic and the post-pandemic period are of an interdisciplinary nature. Moreover, these should be considered from both an epistemological and a practical perspective. The aim of this study was to determine what forms of support for employees in terms of health and quality of work were provided by employers during the pandemic and what forms of support will be expected by employees after it ceases. The research process was carried out in two stages: primary and secondary exploration and quantitative clarification. In the first stage, a systematic review of the literature and a critical analysis of the so-called grey literature was performed. I…
La participación de la ciudadanía en los procesos de diseño de las políticas públicas de empleo. El caso del litoral sur de Alicante

Analysis of Renovation Works in Cappuccinelli Social Housing District in Trapani
2022
The refurbishment of public residential districts represents a current and complex problem. The Cappuccinelli Social Housing (SH) district in Trapani, designed in the late 1950s by Michele Valori and built during the 1960s, is emblematic of the architectural quality and technological innovation of the time it was designed, but at the same time represents the physical and social decay that occurred just after its construction. The neighborhood was examined through a combination of inspections and documentary research. The inspections were conducted for the entire district in order to identify the recurrent external degradation of building components and the related causes, both physical and …
