Se confeccionaron a partir del contacto directo con el territorio con unos criterios uniformes previamente establecidos, lo que las convierte en una fuente de información histórica de notable interés. Social welfare service and health care providers are in a key position to implement successful domestic violence (DV) interventions. However, it is known that DV intervention and prevention work is often lacking in coordination and continuity. In addition, the limited resources, hectic work pace, and changing practices negatively affect the development of successful ways to prevent and intervene in DV. En este artículo se ofrece una visión de conjunto de ambos fenómenos a partir de algunas de las investigaciones llevadas a cabo durante los últimos años. Casi la totalidad del trabajo no remunerado se hace en el ámbito de las relaciones familiares. In Italy, as in many European countries, agriculture and domestic work are sectors characterised by high levels of irregular work without contract and with no respect of minimum pay, humane living conditions or access to basic services. Generalised informality however sometimes leads to cases of sever exploitation and outright human trafficking. This paper considers how St Giovanni Bosco’s nineteenth century creation of vocational laboratories in the Piedmont was an important milestone in the development of Italian work pedagogy. His preventive method was formative because it concerned both single individuals as well as cultivation of human relationships within community contexts. After Don Bosco’s death those first workshops evolved into schools that developed practical work pedagogies that remained faithful to Bosco’s ideals as they responded to the changing needs of the times. Still present within the Salesian vocation school experience are the historical principals that highly value manual work.
