Food Waste is a global significant issue for ethical, environmental and economic reasons, while its management is difficult due to its frequent low visibility. Individual choices and preferences are closely related to the generation of food waste although likely to be modified through education and awareness campaigns. In particular, school canteens are big generators of food waste and, at the same time, provide a great opportunity to improve habits regarding nutrition and education on sustainability, thus impacting the future of the food system. Positive-sense, single-stranded RNA viruses are important pathogens infecting almost all types of organisms. Experimental evidence from distributions of mutations and from viral RNA amplification suggest that these pathogens may follow different RNA replication modes, ranging from the stamping machine replication (SMR) to the geometric replication (GR) mode. Field rules and bias in random surveys with quota samples : an assessment of CIS surveys

Surveys applying quota sampling in their final step are widely used in opinion and market research all over the world. This is also the case in Spain, where the surveys carried out by CIS (a public institution for sociological research supported by the government) have become a point of reference. The rules used by CIS to select individuals within quotas, however, could be improved as they lead to biases in age distributions. A finales de 1999 la Generalitat Valenciana inició la elaboración de un catálogo de humedales, con el fin de identificar aquellas zonas litorales e interiores que merecían protección legal según lo estipulado por la ley autonómica 11/94 de espacios naturales. Ante la falta de un modelo metodológico que se ajustara a este caso, se optó por diseñar una estrategia específica de evaluación de los humedales valencianos. Deep-Sea Bioluminescence Blooms after Dense Water Formation at the Ocean Surface

The deep ocean is the largest and least known ecosystem on Earth. It hosts numerous pelagic organisms, most of which are able to emit light. Here we present a unique data set consisting of a 2.5-year long record of light emission by deep-sea pelagic organisms, measured from December 2007 to June 2010 at the ANTARES underwater neutrino telescope in the deep NW Mediterranean Sea, jointly with synchronous hydrological records. This is the longest continuous time-series of deep-sea bioluminescence ever recorded. El objetivo es describir la prevalencia de exposición a carga física por ocupación en población laboral española y su relación con las condiciones de empleo y características sociodemográficas de los trabajadores.
