Tutkimus tarkastelee johdon tunneälyosaamisen kehittämistä johdon coachingin keinoin. Tutkimustehtävänä on etsiä vastauksia siihen, miten johdon coachit pyrkivät arvioimaan ja kehittämään johdon tunneälyn kahdeksaa avainosaamista osana valmennustyötään. Tarkasteltavat avainosaamiset ovat hyvä itsetuntemus, itsekontrolli, läpinäkyvyys, empaattisuus, kannustavuus, kyky kehittää toisia, taito hallita konflikteja ja ryhmä- ja yhteistyötaito.
