Turvallinen opettaja : 6.-luokkalaisten näkemyksiä

2014

Lahtinen, J. 2014. Turvallinen opettaja. 6.-luokkalaisten näkemyksiä. Jyväskylän yliopisto. Opettajankoulutuslaitos. Kasvatustieteen pro gradu -tutkielma. 77 sivua.

When earwig mothers do not care to share: Parent–offspring competition and the evolution of family life

2017

Kin competition often reduces – and sometimes entirely negates – the benefits of cooperation among family members. Surprisingly, the impact of kin competition on the fitness effects of family life only received close scrutiny in studies on sibling rivalry, whereas the possibility of parent–offspring competition has attracted much less attention. As a consequence, it remains unclear whether and how parent–offspring competition could have affected the early evolution of parental care and family life. Here, we examined the occurrence and consequences of parent–offspring competition over food access in the European earwig Forficula auricularia, an insect with facultative family life reminiscent…

Gravity-derived Moho map for Latvia

2020

A precise understanding of crustal structure is essential to the fields of geodynamics, seismology and certain branches of geophysics. A boundary between the crust and the mantle is known as the MohoroviÄiÄ discontinuity, simply referred to as the âMohoâ. Moho geometry and depth have been extensively studied in Europe, but there are still regions with little information about it. One such area is the northern Baltics, Latvia in particular. So far, only one seismic refraction profile, spanning from Sovetsk (Kaliningrad) to Kohtla-Järve (Estonia), has been used to study the deep structure of the Earth in Latvia. We propose gravity inversion (ParkerâOldenburg algorithm) to gain more insight i…

PtII versus PdII-assisted [2+3] cycloadditions of nitriles and nitrone. Synthesis of nitrile-derived arylamido platinum(II) and Δ4-1,2,4-oxadiazoline…

2019

Abstract The reactions of bis(organonitrile) platinum(II) complexes trans-[PtCl2(N CR)2] (R = C6H4(p-HC O), CH2C6H4(p-CH3)) with pyrroline N-oxide −O+N CHCH2CH2CMe2 afford arylamido platinum(II) complexes trans-[PtCl2{(O CR)N CCH2CH2CMe2NH}2] (R = C6H4(p-HC O) (1), CH2C6H4(p-CH3) (2)). The spectral data of 1 and 2 show that the oxadiazoline rings in both cases have opened by a spontaneous N O bond cleavage to form (Z)-p-formyl-N-(5,5-dimethylpyrrolidin-2-ylidene)benzamide or (Z)-N-(5,5-dimethylpyrrolidin-2-ylidene)-2-p-tolylacetamide ligands, respectively, where the N-atoms of the benzamide or acetamide moieties coordinate to platinum(II) metal centre in trans positions. However, the reacti…

Sponge‐Like Behaviour in Isoreticular Cu(Gly‐His‐X) Peptide‐Based Porous Materials

2015

We report two isoreticular 3D peptide-based porous frameworks formed by coordination of the tripeptides Gly-L-His-Gly and Gly-L-His-L-Lys to Cu(II) which display sponge-like behaviour. These porous materials undergo structural collapse upon evacuation that can be reversed by exposure to water vapour, which permits recovery of the original open channel structure. This is further confirmed by sorption studies that reveal that both solids exhibit selective sorption of H2 O while CO2 adsorption does not result in recovery of the original structures. We also show how the pendant aliphatic amine chains, present in the framework from the introduction of the lysine amino acid in the peptidic backbo…

A Systematic review to identify the effects of biologics in the feet of patients with rheumatoid arthritis

2020

Background and objective: Ninety percent of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) feel foot pain during the disease process. Pharmacological treatment of RA has a systematic effect on the body and includes: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and biologics. The objective of our review was to examine the impact of biologics on patients with RA ‘foot. Methods and material: A systematic review of randomized control trials and observational studies that evaluated the efficacy of biologics against other pharmacological treatment, and included a foot outcome measure. The search covered MEDLINE Ovid, Pubmed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Evidence Sear…

Proximity Effect in Superconducting Heterostructures with Strong Spin-Orbit Coupling and Spin Splitting

2019

It has been shown that singlet Cooper pairs can be converted into triplet ones and diffuse into a ferromagnet over a long distance in a phenomenon known as the long-range proximity effect (LRPE). This happens in materials with inhomogeneous magnetism or spin-orbit coupling (SOC). Most of the previous studies focus on the cases with small SOC and exchange field. However, the physics was not clear when SOC and exchange field strength are both much greater than the disorder strength. In this work, we consider a two dimensional system with a large Rashba-type SOC and exchange field in the case where only one band is partially occupied. We develop a generalized quasiclassical theory by projectin…

Estimating Regional Input Coefficients and Multipliers: The Use of FLQ is Not a Gamble

2014

Flegg A. T. and Tohmo T. Estimating regional input coefficients and multipliers: the use of FLQ is not a gamble, Regional Studies. This paper re-examines the Finnish evidence presented by Lehtonen and Tykkylainen on the use of location quotients (LQs) in estimating regional input coefficients and multipliers. They argue that the choice of an LQ-based method is a gamble and that there is no single method that can be recommended for general use. It is contended here that this evidence is erroneous and that the FLQ (Flegg's location quotient) yields results far superior to those from competing formulae, so it should provide a satisfactory way of generating an initial set of input coefficients.…

Few-body insights of multiquark exotic hadrons

2018

In this contribution we discuss the adequate treatment of the $4-$ and $5-$body dynamics within a constituent quark framework. We stress that the variational and Born-Oppenheimer approximations give energies rather close to the exact ones, while the diquark approximation might be rather misleading. Hall-Post inequalities provide very useful lower bounds that exclude possible stable states for some mass ratios and color wave functions.
