Abstract In this study, a polybenzofulvene derivative named poly-6-MOEG-9-BF3k, was evaluated as polymeric material for the production of injectable thermoresponsive nano-aggregates able to load low molecular weight peptidic drug, like the anticancer leuprolide. AbstractLife expectancy of patients affected by glioblastoma multiforme is extremely low. The therapeutic use of tumor necrosis factor–related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) has been proposed to treat this disease based on its ability to kill glioma cell lines in vitro and in vivo. Here, we show that, differently from glioma cell lines, glioblastoma multiforme tumors were resistant to TRAIL stimulation because they expressed low levels of caspase-8 and high levels of the death receptor inhibitor PED/PEA-15. Both in rat left atrial heart and in aortic smooth muscle preparations, phenylephrine (PE) caused a concentration-dependent increase in force of contraction (FC) in the presence of atenolol (10 mumol/l), which was antagonized by phentolamine, prazosin and WB 4101 in a competitive manner. The pA2 values of the antagonists in the cardiac tissue were 10-20fold lower than those in the rat thoracic aorta. In the spontaneously beating right atrium, PE exerted a positive chronotropic action, which was not significantly antagonized by phentolamine or prazosin. In this study, we investigated the effects of context-related semantic anomalies on the fixation-related brain potentials of 12–13-year-old Finnish children in grade 6 during sentence reading. The detection of such anomalies is typically reflected in the N400 event-related potential. We also examined whether the representation invoked by the sentence context extends to the orthographic representation level by replacing the final words of the sentence with an anomalous word neighbour of a plausible word. We studied the impact of diverse subtypes of learning disabilities (LD) on adult-age mental health, education, and employment by comparing the LD group ( n = 430) with a matched control group without a known history of LD ( n = 2,149). The clinical archived data were merged with lifelong register data on sickness allowances/disability pensions granted on the basis of psychiatric illnesses, reimbursements for psychoactive medication, having a degree after compulsory education, and having received unemployment allowances.
