Is the beta3-adrenoceptor (ADRB3) a potential target for uterorelaxant drugs?

International audience; The management of premature birth still remains unsatisfactory. Since the relative lack of efficiency and/or safety of current tocolytic agents have been highlighted, it is necessary to develop new uterorelaxant drugs deprived of important maternal and foetal side effects. Our work reported in this review focuses on a potential new target for tocolytic drugs, the beta3-adrenoceptor (ADRB3). This third type of ADRB is shown to be present and functional in human myometrium. Pharmacological and biochemical study on the effects of selective phosphodiesterase inhibitors on human term myometrium

This study was aimed at evaluating the in vitro effects of phosphodiesterase inhibitors and beta2-adrenoceptor agonists on spontaneous contractions of human term myometrium. Rolipram, RP 73401 (3-cyclopentyloxy-N-(3,5(-dichloro-4-pyridil)-4-methoxybenzamide) and Ro 20-1724 (1-4-(3-butoxy-4-methoxybenzyl)-2-imidozolidinone) (phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitors) inhibited spontaneous myometrial contractions (Emax approximately 100%; pD2 of 6.80+/-0.28, 6.84+/-0.32 and 6.31+/-0.03, respectively). International audience; Isomeric states in isotopes in the vicinity of doubly-magic 208Pb were populatedfollowing reactions of a relativistic 208Pb primary beam impinging on a9Be fragmentation target. Secondary beams of 198,200,202,206Pb and 206Hg wereisotopically separated and implanted in a passive stopper positioned in thefocal plane of the GSI Fragment Separator. A novel approach to measure the cross section of the 18O(p, α)15N resonant reaction in the 0-200 keV energy range

The 18O(p, ?)15N reaction is of primary importance to pin down the uncertainties, due to nuclear physics input, affecting present-day models of asymptotic giant branch stars. Its reaction rate can modify both fluorine nucleosynthesis inside such stars and oxygen and nitrogen isotopic ratios, which allow one to constrain the proposed astrophysical scenarios.
