International audience; A sampled-data observer is proposed for linear continuous-time systems whose outputs are sequentially sampled via non-uniform sampling intervals repeating a prescribed Round-Robin sequence. With constant sampling intervals (jitter-free case) we provide constructive necessary and sufficient conditions for the design of an asymptotic continuous-discrete observer whose estimation error is input-to-state stable (ISS) from process disturbances and measurement noise. In this paper, the modeling and identification of a nonlinear actuated hydraulic system is addressed. The full-order model is first reduced in relation to the load pressure and flow dynamics and, based thereupon, linearized over the entire operational state-space. The dynamics of the proportional control valve is identified, analyzed, and intentionally excluded from the reduced model, due to a unity gain behavior in the frequency range of interest. An algebraic approach for human posture estimation in the sagittal plane using accelerometer noisy signal

International audience; Our aim is to develop an algebraic approach to estimate human posture in the sagittal plane using Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) providing accelerations and angular velocities. To do it so, we address the issue of the estimation of the amplitude, frequency and phase of a biased and noisy sum of three sinusoidal waveform signals on a moving time horizon. Since the length of the time window is small, the estimation must be done within a fraction of the signal's period. The problem is solved via algebraic techniques (see [38] for the theoretical part concerning this problem). The efficiency of our approach is illustrated by computer simulations.
Scale invariant line matching on the sphere

International audience; This paper proposes a novel approach of line matching across images captured by different types of cameras, from perspective to omnidirectional ones. Based on the spherical mapping, this method utilizes spherical SIFT point features to boost line matching and searches line correspondences using an affine invariant measure of similarity. It permits to unify the commonest cameras and to process heterogeneous images with the least distortion of visual information.

In sampling-based 3D rigid body motion planning one of the major subroutines is collision detection. Especially for problems with narrow passages many samples have to be checked by a collision detection algorithm. In this application, the runtime of the motion planning algorithm is dominated by collision detection and the samples have the very specific characteristic that many of them are in collision and have small penetration volumes. This paper deals with the fatigue life prediction of components and structures subjected to random fatigue, i.e. to cyclic loading whose amplitude varies in an essentially random manner. In particular, this study concentrates on the general problem of directly relating fatigue cycle distribution to the power spectral density (PSD) by means of closed-form expressions that avoid expensive digital simulations of the stress process.
