Desymmetrization of Prochiral Cyclobutanones via Nitrogen Insertion: A Concise Route to Chiral γ‐Lactams

Abstract Asymmetric access to γ‐lactams is achieved via a cyclobutanone ring expansion using widely available (1S,2R)‐1‐amino‐2‐indanol for chiral induction. Mechanistic analysis of the key N,O‐ketal rearrangement reveals a Curtin–Hammett scenario, which enables a downstream stereoinduction (up to 88:12 dr) and is corroborated by spectroscopic, crystallographic, and computational studies. In combination with an easy deprotection protocol, this operationally simple sequence allows the synthesis of a range of optically pure γ‐lactams, including those bearing all‐carbon quaternary stereocenters. Το σύνθετο γεωδυναμικό καθεστώς της Ελλάδας πηγάζει από την πολύπλοκη γεωλογική της ιστορία, η οποία χαρακτηρίζεται από έντονη σεισμική δραστηριότητα και ενισχυμένη γεωθερμική βαθμίδα. Αυτή η δραστηριότητα σε συνδυασμό με το ενεργό ηφαιστειακό τόξο, ευνοεί την ύπαρξη πολλών εκπομπών αερίων, με αποτέλεσμα την κατηγοριοποίηση σε CO2-, N2- και CH4-αέρια, ανάλογα με το επικρατών είδος. Η παρούσα εργασία επικεντρώνεται στο μεθάνιο και τους ελαφρούς υδρογονάνθρακες (C2-C6) με σκοπό τον προσδιορισμό της προέλευσή τους. Dynamics of a harmonic oscillator coupled with a Glauber amplifier

A system of a quantum harmonic oscillator bi-linearly coupled with a Glauber amplifier is analysed considering a time-dependent Hamiltonian model. The Hilbert space of this system may be exactly subdivided into invariant finite dimensional subspaces. Resorting to the Jordan-Schwinger map, the dynamical problem within each invariant subspace may be traced back to an effective SU(2) Hamiltonian model expressed in terms of spin variables only. This circumstance allows to analytically solve the dynamical problem and thus to study the exact dynamics of the oscillator-amplifier system under specific time-dependent scenarios.
