A reduction theorem for the Galois–McKay conjecture
2020
We introduce H {\mathcal {H}} -triples and a partial order relation on them, generalizing the theory of ordering character triples developed by Navarro and Späth. This generalization takes into account the action of Galois automorphisms on characters and, together with previous results of Ladisch and Turull, allows us to reduce the Galois–McKay conjecture to a question about simple groups.
Pairs of solutions for Robin problems with an indefinite and unbounded potential, resonant at zero and infinity
2018
We consider a semilinear Robin problem driven by the Laplacian plus an indefinite and unbounded potential and a Caratheodory reaction term which is resonant both at zero and $$\pm \infty $$ . Using the Lyapunov–Schmidt reduction method and critical groups (Morse theory), we show that the problem has at least two nontrivial smooth solutions.
Frames and representing systems in Fréchet spaces and their duals
2014
[EN] Frames and Bessel sequences in Fr\'echet spaces and their duals are defined and studied. Their relation with Schauder frames and representing systems is analyzed. The abstract results presented here, when applied to concrete spaces of analytic functions, give many examples and consequences about sampling sets and Dirichlet series expansions.
Selective versions of chain condition-type properties
2015
We study selective and game-theoretic versions of properties like the ccc, weak Lindel\"ofness and separability, giving various characterizations of them and exploring connections between these properties and some classical cardinal invariants of the continuum.
An uncountable family of almost nilpotent varieties of polynomial growth
2017
A non-nilpotent variety of algebras is almost nilpotent if any proper subvariety is nilpotent. Let the base field be of characteristic zero. It has been shown that for associative or Lie algebras only one such variety exists. Here we present infinite families of such varieties. More precisely we shall prove the existence of 1) a countable family of almost nilpotent varieties of at most linear growth and 2) an uncountable family of almost nilpotent varieties of at most quadratic growth.
Some new results on integration for multifunction
2018
It has been proven in previous papers that each Henstock-Kurzweil-Pettis integrable multifunction with weakly compact values can be represented as a sum of one of its selections and a Pettis integrable multifunction. We prove here that if the initial multifunction is also Bochner measurable and has absolutely continuous variational measure of its integral, then it is a sum of a strongly measurable selection and of a variationally Henstock integrable multifunction that is also Birkhoff integrable.
A maximal Function Approach to Two-Measure Poincaré Inequalities
2018
This paper extends the self-improvement result of Keith and Zhong in Keith and Zhong (Ann. Math. 167(2):575–599, 2008) to the two-measure case. Our main result shows that a two-measure (p, p)-Poincare inequality for $$10$$ under a balance condition on the measures. The corresponding result for a maximal Poincare inequality is also considered. In this case the left-hand side in the Poincare inequality is replaced with an integral of a sharp maximal function and the results hold without a balance condition. Moreover, validity of maximal Poincare inequalities is used to characterize the self-improvement of two-measure Poincare inequalities. Examples are constructed to illustrate the role of t…
Isometric dilations and 𝐻^{∞} calculus for bounded analytic semigroups and Ritt operators
2017
We show that any bounded analytic semigroup on L p L^p (with 1 > p > ∞ 1>p>\infty ) whose negative generator admits a bounded H ∞ ( Σ θ ) H^{\infty }(\Sigma _\theta ) functional calculus for some θ ∈ ( 0 , π 2 ) \theta \in (0,\frac {\pi }{2}) can be dilated into a bounded analytic semigroup ( R t ) t ⩾ 0 (R_t)_{t\geqslant 0} on a bigger L p L^p -space in such a way that R t R_t is a positive contraction for any t ⩾ 0 t\geqslant 0 . We also establish a discrete analogue for Ritt operators and consider the case when L p L^p -spaces are replaced by more general Banach spaces. In connection with these functional calculus issues, we study isometric dilations of bounded continuous rep…
Bessel sequences, Riesz-like bases and operators in Triplets of Hilbert spaces
2016
Riesz-like bases for a triplet of Hilbert spaces are investigated, in connection with an analogous study for more general rigged Hilbert spaces performed in a previous paper. It is shown, in particular, that every \(\omega \)-independent, complete (total) Bessel sequence is a (strict) Riesz-like basis in a convenient triplet of Hilbert spaces. An application to non self-adjoint Schrodinger-type operators is considered. Moreover, some of the simplest operators we can define by them and their dual bases are studied.
Generic Properties of Dynamical Systems
2006
The state of a concrete system (from physics, chemistry, ecology, or other sciences) is described using (finitely many, say n) observable quantities (e.g., positions and velocities for mechanical systems, population densities for echological systems, etc.). Hence, the state of a system may be represented as a point $x$ in a geometrical space $\mathbb R^n$. In many cases, the quantities describing the state are related, so that the phase space (space of all possible states) is a submanifold $M\subset \mathbb R^n$. The time evolution of the system is represented by a curve $x_t$, $t \in\mathbb R$ drawn on the phase space $M$, or by a sequence $x_n \in M$, $n \in\mathbb Z$, if we consider disc…
