Enantiomeric Resolution of Asymmetric-Carbon-Free Binuclear Double-Stranded Cobalt(III) Helicates and Their Application as Catalysts in Asymmetric Re…
2018
A series of double-stranded binuclear helicates [Co2(H1)2]4+, [Co2(H2)2]4+, and [Co2(H3)2]4+, derived from monodeprotonated bis-pyridyl hydrazine-based ligands of H21, H22, and H23 with one, two, and three -CH2 spacers, were obtained. These asymmetric-carbon-free racemic helicates were separated into their ΔΔ and ΛΛ enantiomers. The resolved helicates were examined for the first time as enantioselective catalysts in asymmetric benzoylation and nitroaldol reactions.
Structural and metallo selectivity in the assembly of [2 × 2] grid-type metallosupramolecular species: Mechanisms and kinetic control
2011
An unsymmetrical bis(tridentate) ligand LH in which one binding site can be readily deprotonated forms a kinetically inert [Co(III)L(2)](+) complex which can be used as a "corner" species for the "Coupe du Roi" assembly of trans,trans-[Co(2)M(2)L(4)](6+) metallogrids (M = Fe(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II)). In the mixed Co(III)/Co(II) species, the oxidation states appear to be localised. In solution, the ligand LH forms octacationic, homometallic [2 × 2] grids with the individual labile metal ions Fe(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), seemingly as mixtures of all possible isomers arising from the unsymmetrical nature of the ligand. In the solid state, however, [Zn(4)L(4)](CF(3)SO(3))(8)·4CH(3)CN cry…
Two-photon absorption of BF2-carrying compounds: insights from theory and experiment
2017
This communication presents a structure–property study of a few novel pyridine-based difluoroborate compounds with a N–BF2–O core, which exhibit outstanding fluorescence properties. To exploit their potential for two-photon bioimaging, relationships between the two-photon action cross section and systematic structural modifications have been investigated and unravelled.
Analysis of salivary detection of P16INK4A and RASSF1A promoter gene methylation and its association with oral squamous cell carcinoma in a Colombian…
2019
Background Epigenetic factors play a fundamental role in the etiopathogenesis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). This study evaluated if salivary detection of P16INK4A/RASSF1A gene promoter methylation might be linked to the clinical/histological features of OSCC in a Colombian population. Material and Methods Methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP-PCR) was used to detect the methylation frequency of P16INK4A/RASSF1A genes in DNA obtained from whole saliva collected of 40 healthy controls (HC) and 43 OSCC patients. Determination of the clinical performance of MSP-PCR assay was based on standard algorithms derived from two-way contingency table analysis. The association of …
Joint interpretation of seismic refraction tomography and electrical resistivity tomography by cluster analysis to detect buried cavities
2020
Abstract In the last few years, the geophysical methods of seismic refraction tomography (SRT) and electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) are among the most used geophysical techniques for the reconstruction of subsoil geometries, for the investigation of underground cavities and also for the archaeological prospecting. However, the main disadvantage of each geophysical method is the difficulty of final interpretation of the data. In order to eliminate artifacts and generally improve the reliability and accuracy of geophysical interpretation, it is useful to perform a joint approach of different geophysical methods, also introducing the a priori information. In this work, it is shown the i…
The impact of climate change on extreme precipitation in Sicily, Italy
2018
Increasing precipitation extremes are one of the possible consequences of a warmer climate. These may exceed the capacity of urban drainage systems, and thus impact the urban environment. Because short-duration precipitation events are primarily responsible for flooding in urban systems, it is important to assess the response of extreme precipitation at hourly (or sub-hourly) scales to a warming climate. This study aims to evaluate the projected changes in extreme rainfall events across the region of Sicily (Italy) and, for two urban areas, to assess possible changes in Depth-Duration-Frequency (DDF) curves. We used Regional Climate Model outputs from Coordinated Regional Climate Downscalin…
Geographic and temporal variations in turbulent heat loss from lakes : A global analysis across 45 lakes
2018
Heat fluxes at the lake surface play an integral part in determining the energy budget and thermal structure in lakes, including regulating how lakes respond to climate change. We explore patterns in turbulent heat fluxes, which vary across temporal and spatial scales, using in situ high-frequency monitoring data from 45 glob- ally distributed lakes. Our analysis demonstrates that some of the lakes studied follow a marked seasonal cycle in their turbulent surface fluxes and that turbulent heat loss is highest in larger lakes and those situated at low latitude. The Bowen ratio, which is the ratio of mean sensible to mean latent heat fluxes, is smaller at low lati- tudes and, in turn, the rel…
Bathymetric estimation using MERIS images in coastal sea waters.
2007
Bathymetric estimation using remote sensing images has previously been applied to high spatial resolution imagery such as CASI, Ikonos, or SPOT but not on medium spatial resolution images (i.e., MERIS). This choice can be justified when there is a need to map the bathymetry on large areas. In this letter, we present the results of the bathymetry estimation over a large known area, the Gulf of Lion (France), expanding over 270times180 km
Intercomparison of Soil Moisture Retrieved from GNSS-R and from Passive L-Band Radiometry at the Valencia Anchor Station
2019
In this paper, the SOMOSTA (Soil Moisture Monitoring Station) experiment on the intercomparison of soil moisture monitoring from Global Navigation Satellite System Reflectometry (GNSS-R) signals and passive L-band microwave radiometer observations at the Valencia Anchor Station is introduced. The GNSS-R instrument has an up-looking antenna for receiving direct signals from satellites, and a dual-pol down-looking antenna for receiving LHCP (left-hand circular polarization) and RHCP (right-hand circular polarization) reflected signals from the soil surface. Data were collected from the three different antennas through the two channels of Oceanpal GNSS-R receiver and, in addition, calibration …
Assessment of the Potential Evapotranspiration MODIS Product Using Ground Measurements in the Pampas
2018
Evapotranspiration is the hydrological variable of greatest relevance in the Argentina Pampas Region (APR). The estimation of potential evapotranspiration (PET) in this area becomes essential since primary productivity is directly linked to water availability. In order to evaluate the MOD16_A2 product of evapotranspiration (ET), a comparison with in situ measurements was conducted. We used ET data provided by the Oficina de Riesgo Agropecuario, corresponding to 24 stations placed in the region covering all seasons for the years 2012 to 2014. Results show an overestimation of 86% and 52% in Autumn-Winter and Spring-Summer, respectively. Mean Absolut Error (MAE) range between ±0.9 and ±2.1 mm…
