Digital Architectures Generated Using Forces in Urban Environment

A paper, a description of a software application is given, which allows to generate tridimensional models of buildings, directly inside a geo referential context, following a parametric approach, in which the volume of the building is put in direct relation with forces/law bonds emerging from the urban context. The user is, therefore, able to interactively operate within a project process, in which by changing the parameters values and by verifying in real time, the results of the changes, he/she is able to evaluate all possible infinite scenarios. The system,thought for Trento’s (Italy) urban context, may also be applied on other cities.

AbstractThe purpose of this article is to explore a hybrid community-based form of care for older people called adult foster care. In the article, the nature of the foster care home as a place of care is explored from the foster carers’ point-of-view. It is based on an interview study of 12 foster carers. Unpacking the link between family socioeconomic status and civic engagement during the transition to adulthood: Do work values play a role?

We investigated whether the link between family-of-origin socioeconomic status (SES) and civic engagement in young adulthood is mediated by youth’s work values, i.e., the desired characteristics of their current or future jobs. We used data from a Finnish study: 2004 (age 16–18, NT1 = 1,301); 2011 (age 23–25, N T2 = 1,096); and 2014 (age 25–27, NT3 = 1,138). A lower family SES in 2004 was negatively related to youth’s civic engagement in 2014. Lower family SES predicted the importance that youth attached to extrinsic job rewards (e.g., good pay) in 2011, but not the importance of intrinsic job rewards (e.g., learning opportunities). This chapter investigates the institutional and affective practices of domestic violence (DV) interventions in Finnish social work. It examines the expression of social workers’ emotions related to intervening in DV and how these expressions result in the positioning of clients. Encountering and intervening in DV is often challenging; ideological presumptions, conceptions, gender-neutral discussions and misrecognition of violence affect institutional arrangements and practices, and the ways in which professionals feel about and respond to violence. Il volume raccoglie i risultati della ricerca Nazionale Prin 2007 “ Riqualificazione e aggiornamanto del patrimonio di edilizia pubblica. Linee guida per gli interventi nei quartieri innovativi IACP nell’italia centromeridionale” svolti dall’unità Palermitana (responsabile Andrea Sciascia). L’autrice partecipa alla ricerca MIUR PRIN 2007 elaborando un’ipotesi di progetto per l’area del borgo Ulivia a Palermo. Il progetto, che ha affrontato il tema “BU.06, Pedonalità e Carrabilità. Alcuni spazi pubblici del quartiere Borgo Ulivia – Falsomiele”, elaborato grazie a un gruppo di giovani architetti siciliani, è descritto attraverso gli elaborati pubblicati nella seconda parte del volume.

Perinatal alcohol exposure affects ontogenic neurodevelopment, causing physical and functional long-term abnormalities with limited treatment options. This study investigated long-term consequences of continuous and intermittent maternal alcohol drinking on behavioral readouts of cognitive function and alcohol vulnerability in the offspring. PURPOSE: to show the relevance of peripheral nerve ultrasound imaging as a supplementary technique in a clinical neurophysiological evaluation. METHODS: peripheral nerves ultrasound (US) examination was performed in patients with a medical history of nerve entrapment and/or post-traumatic neuropathy but with clinical or neurophysiological unusual findings. A 10-18 MHz transducer was used. RESULTS: we recruited 50 patients with clinical evidence of peripheral neuropathies (25M, 25F): 24 median nerves, 1 anterior interosseous, 14 ulnar, 3 brachial plexus, 2 posterior interosseus, 1 superficial radial, 1 superficial peroneal and 4 common peroneal nerves. Because of containment policies, migrants between departure and destination encounter barriers and gray zones. They remain trapped in these places, where the asymmetry of power is exercised by force. Such places are tolerated as they are functional to the capitalist system. Planned refugee camps are part of this system; they are conceived as temporary devices to save human lives but are organized externally and self-organization is prevented. Can our discipline re-appropriate these issues often delegated to political and functionalist choices and provide effective answers? In the global landscape of migration, the experience of the Sahrawi can be a model of self-management and participation.

XIV que parafrasea libremente varias fuentes literarias de contenido zoológico, entre las que destaca la Historia Animalium de Claudio Eliano. Un análisis detallado de los procedimientos de sustitución léxica realizado por el autor, apoyado en la consulta de los diccionarios bizantinos, permite reconocer su originalidad compositiva, la riqueza expresiva de su vocabulario poético, pero también la clara conciencia de la existencia de diferentes niveles de lengua y de los muy diversos registros utilizados por el autor.
