Pneumonia caused by coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, China, in late 2019, has been spread around the world already becoming a pandemic. Unfortunately, there is not yet a specific vaccine or effective antiviral drug for treating COVID-19. Many of these patients deteriorate rapidly and require intubation and are mechanically ventilated, which is causing the collapse of the health system in many countries due to lack of ventilators and intensive care beds. Theoretical conditions for the coexistence of viral strains with differences in phenotypic traits : A bifurcation analysis

We investigate the dynamics of a wild-type viral strain which generates mutant strains differing in phenotypic properties for infectivity, virulence and mutation rates. We study, by means of a mathematical model and bifurcation analysis, conditions under which the wild-type and mutant viruses, which compete for the same host cells, can coexist. The coexistence conditions are formulated in terms of the basic reproductive numbers of the strains, a maximum value of the mutation rate and the virulence of the pathogens. Pro gradu-tutkielmassa kartoitetaan, millaisia alkoholirikoksia Mikkelin seudulla tehtiin ja miksi, kuten myös miten näitä rikoksia kontrolloitiin ja valvottiin vuosina 1895–1905. Tarkemmiksi tutkimuskohteiksi on rajattu kolme eniten oikeuksissa näkynyttä rikosta: viinan salapolttaminen, laiton myyminen sekä juopuminen julkisella alueella. Pääasiallisina lähteinä tutkimuksessa on käytetty rikoshistoriassa keskeisiä oikeusistuinten pöytäkirjoja sekä näiden tukena aikalaissanomalehtiä. Edellä mainituista kolmesta rikoksesta oli tutkimusajanjakson aikana syytettynä yhteensä 338 henkilöä. Suurin osa syytetyistä oli miehiä. Masteroppgave i Nordisk språk og litteratur 2006 - Høgskolen i Agder, Kristiansand Formålet med denne oppgaven var å studere kriminallitteratur i et fremmed og uhyggelig perspektiv. Jeg ville finne ut om man finner fremmede og uhyggelige elementer i kriminallitteraturen, og hvilke konsekvenser det eventuelt ville få, for kriminallitteraturen som sjanger, og for leseren. I de første kapitlene har jeg prøvd å plassere kriminallitteraturen i en kontekst, det uhyggelige. Senere vil jeg benytte meg av disse teorier i en nærlesing av Solefall. Epäonnistuneen kieltolain myötä Suomeen laadittiin itsenäisyyden ajan ensimmäinen väkijuomalaki. Väkijuomalain myötä yksityiset henkilöt, yhdistykset, järjestöt sekä yksityiset kerhot saattoivat perustaa anniskeluravintoloita. Tässä tutkielmassa tarkastellaan Jyväskyläläisiä anniskeluravintoloiden anniskeluoikeusprosessia ja ravintoloiden valvontaa kieltolain päättymisestä vuonna 1932 talvisodan syttymiseen syystalvella vuonna 1939. Yhteiskunta oli sisällissodan myötä edelleen jakaantunut. Myös Alkoholiliike jakoi ravintolat yhteiskuntaluokkien mukaan. Tutkielman ensimmäisenä tavoitteena on selvittää, miten anniskeluoikeutta haettiin ja millaiset jyväskyläläiset ravintolat oikeutta hakivat …
