Lindas Neimanes bakalaura darbs “Staļiniskās ideoloģijas izpausmes latviešu daiļliteratūrā: atspoguļojums Latvijas PSR presē no 1945.-1956.gadam” izstrādāts Latvijas Universitātes Vēstures un filozofijas fakultātē. The article presents the position of “the Castle” on emigration (the President, government and the Council of the Republic of Poland) towards the events in Poland and the Eastern Bloc in 1956. The politicians and publicists of “the Castle”, observing some changes in the country, did not expect that they would lead to basic changes. The opinion prevailed that Poland was not an independent state and that the Soviet occupation still persisted. Propagating maximum demands (independence, restoration of the pre-war border in the east), they did not have much hope in an evolutionary course of changes. Este trabajo se sustenta en la convicción de que la historia de la ciencia no puede ser artificialmente separada de otras partes de la historia de las sociedades humanas donde la actividad científica se inscribe. Tal idea forma parte de la perspectiva social de la historia de la ciencia y de la medicina y cuenta con una amplia tradición de investigaciones centradas básicamente en establecer las conexiones de la evolución del pensamiento científico y de su desarrollo técnico con las necesidades económicas y sociales y con la cosmovisión propia de cada sociedad.

Tomi Mertanen tarkasteli väitöstutkimuksessaan vuoden 1956 yleislakon poliittista tapahtumahistoriaa. Kyseessä on ensimmäinen tieteellisesti laadittu kuvaus yleislakon tapahtumahistoriasta. Mertanen selvitti lakon eri osapuolten keskinäistä vallankäyttöä lakon muodostaman poikkeustilanteen aikana. Lähtökohtana tutkimuksessa oli weberiläinen valtakäsitys, jossa valtio käsitetään pakkoyhteisöksi, jonka olemassaolon kansalaiset tunnustavat. Poliisi on tällöin yksi valtion vallankäytön elin.
