The cognitive processing mechanism of humor refers to how the system of neural circuitry and pathways in the brain deals with the incongruity in a humorous manner. The past research has revealed different stages and corresponding functional brain activities involved in humor-processing in terms of time and space dimensions, highlighting the effects of the time windows of about 400 ms, 600 ms, and 900 ms. La presente investigación analiza, a partir de textos cubanos actuales, un tipo de construcciones que proponemos denominar «secuencias ponderadoras de identificación con como». Se explica su funcionamiento en calidad de construcción lingüística peculiar mediante la descripción e interpretación de sus características morfosintácticas y semánticas. By examining current Cuban texts, this study analyzes a type of constructions which are proposed to be denominated 'emphatic sequences of identification with como'. It tries to explain these sequences as a peculiar linguistic construction by means of the description and interpretation of their morphosyntactic and semantic characteristics.

Artikkelissa tarkastellaan vuoden 1918 työväenperinteessä hahmottuvaa naiskuvaa keskittyen kuolemaa käsitteleviin lauluihin ja runoihin. Aineisto koostuu arkistoaineistosta ja kirjoittajan isoisän sotilasmuistiosta. Punaiset laulut ja runot ovat luokkataistelun aseita ja jo sellaisenaan kiistävää folklorea. Mental toughness in elite and sub-elite female soccer players

Mental toughness (MT) is seen as an important psychological factor in the athletic success of elite athletes. Research on the subject has usually concerned male athletes. Our purpose was to investigate whether there are differences in mental toughness between female players who compete in an elite league and those who play at lower levels. In total, 298 female soccer players (M = 20.7 years, SD = 3.7 years) from three levels of Norwegian soccer responded to the Sports Mental Toughness Questionnaire. 23 GHz VLBI observations of SN 2008ax (Research Note)

We report on phase-referenced 23 GHz Very-Long-Baseline-Interferometry (VLBI) observations of the type IIb supernova SN 2008ax, made with the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) on 2 April 2008 (33 days after explosion). These observations resulted in a marginal detection of the supernova. The total flux density recovered from our VLBI image is 0.8 ± 0.3 mJy (one standard deviation). As it appears, the structure may be interpreted as either a core-jet or a double source. However, the supernova structure could be somewhat confused with a possible close by noise peak. In such a case, the recovered flux density would decrease to 0.48 ± 0.12 mJy, compatible with the flux densities measured with the…
Parenthood and gender inequality : Population-based evidence on the child penalty in Finland

This study presents evidence on the effect of parenthood on labor market outcomes in Finland. We use population-based data drawn from administrative registers and an event study design centered around the birth of the first child using the specification proposed in Kleven et al. (2019b). The study confirms that women encounter large short- and long-term child penalties in gross labor earnings and that penalties are associated with employment participation. Taxes and social security transfers considerably reduce the child penalty, which also varies by the number of children. peerReviewed
