Numerical and experimental analysis of a high innovative hydrofoil

The hydrofoil is a craft where the weight is entirely supported by the lift generated by the submerged part of wings. The particular structure of the craft requires a thorough study of the architecture of the hull, whose structure differs from others high speed vessels since the lift on wing surfaces are transmitted to the hull in limited areas (wing attacks). Constructive Variants for Personalised Formwork

Abstract The aim of this paper is to explore the possibility of working with a personalized reusable composite formwork in order to obtain architectural shapes for roof and wall elements without material loss. Starting with the analysis of the market needs, the definition of the functions and continuing with the conceptual and technical solution proposals, we created a formwork variant that can be reused for different complex shapes. The researches set on sight different variations of the material used, their thickness and the contact surface given by the support elements.

Passenger Car Equivalents (PCEs in the following) are used to transform a mixed fleet of vehicles into a fleet of equivalent passenger cars and to analyze capacity and level-of-service of roads and intersections. Most roundabouts guidelines propose constant values for PCEs but a single PCE value can result improper under heterogeneous traffic conditions. Analysis of block random rocking on nonlinear flexible foundation

Abstract In this paper the rocking response of a rigid block randomly excited at its foundation is examined. A nonlinear flexible foundation model is considered accounting for the possibility of uplifting in the case of strong excitation. Specifically, based on an appropriate nonlinear impact force model, the foundation is treated as a bed of continuously distributed springs in parallel with nonlinear dampers. The statistics of the rocking response is examined by an analytical procedure which involves a combination of static condensation and stochastic linearization methods. The paper addresses issues related to Passenger Car Equivalents (PCEs) at roundabouts. Compared to other road units, the curvilinear elements of roundabout geometric design may impose greater constraints on vehicular trajectories and have a significant effect on the swept envelope of heavy vehicles. Specifically, the aim of the paper is to present the methodological approach which used traffic microsimulation to estimate PCEs. This article investigates the feasibility of using a simplified approach, based on the measurement of power ratio parameters, for harmonic emissions assessment at the point of common coupling (PCC). The proposed approach comes from the common concept of power factor correction and the definitions of the IEEE Std. 1459-2010, where line utilization and harmonic pollution levels are evaluated by means of ratios between the power quantities of the apparent power decomposition.
