La entrada en vigor de las Normativas REACH (PARLAMENTO EUROPEO 2006) y CLP (PARLAMENTO EUROPEO 2008) fomentó que la Unión Europea financiara diferentes programas marco para desarrollar estrategias in vitro para evaluar la seguridad de los productos químicos y reducir el número de animales y el coste económico.
