Methylprednisolone-induced hepatotoxicity in a 16-year-old girl with multiple sclerosis.
2018
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease with demyelination of the central nervous system. High-dosage corticosteroids are the first-line therapy in the acute relapsing of MS. We report a case of severe high-dose methylprednisolone-induced acute hepatitis in a patient with a new diagnosis of MS. A 16-year-old girl was admitted for urticaria, angioedema, nausea and vomiting a month later she had been diagnosed with MS and treated with high-dosage methylprednisolone. Laboratory investigations showed hepatic insufficiency with grossly elevated liver enzymes. A liver biopsy showed focal centrilobular hepatocyte necrosis with interface hepatitis. Methylprednisolone-induced hepat…
COVID-SCORE Spain: public perceptions of key government COVID-19 control measures
2021
Abstract Background Spain was initially one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In June 2020, the COVID-SCORE-10 study reported that the Spanish public’s perception of their government’s response to the pandemic was low. This study examines these perceptions in greater detail. Methods We employed an ordered logistic regression analysis using COVID-SCORE-10 data to examine the Spanish public’s perception of 10 key aspects of their government’s COVID-19 control measures. These included support for daily needs, mental and general health services, communication, information and coordination, which were examined by gender, age, education level, hav…

Masteroppgave psykisk helsearbeid ME504 - Universitetet i Agder 2016 The purpose of this thesis is to convey knowledge about how children experience serious parental conflicts and how to decrease the negative impact these conflicts has on the children involved. A literature review has been chosen as the scientific method while working with this study. A comprehensive search in different scientific databases has been performed, in a process in which English words have been used. This study is an integrative review where a combination of different approaches allow me to summarize empirical and theoretical literature into comprehensive knowledge about a phenomenon. The theoretical perspectives…

Planning and executing sequential motor acts in Parkinson Disease
1997
Many experimental evidences highlighted that Parkinson Disease (PD) patients are particularly impaired in performing a sequence of movements. In the present experiment we focused to study how PD patients plan and execute an action constituted by the sequence of reaching-grasping an object (first motor act) and placing it on a second target (second motor act). We wished to determine whether properties of the target of the second motor act influenced the kinematics of first motor act. The results showed that PD patients modified, as the controls, the initial ballistic phase of reaching according to variation of second target position (object extrinsic properties). In particular, peak accelera…
Party autonomy regarding jurisdiction under the property regimes regulations
2021
The main accomplishment of the Property Regimes Regulations lies in their bringing more coherence into the cross-border family law adjudication. In the field of international jurisdiction, they strive to align the competence in couples? patrimony disputes to that in succession and in separation proceedings, or else to align the competence of the courts to the applicable law. These tendencies are clearly visible in the Regulations? provisions on choice of court agreements. Namely, the Regulations allow for such agreements, but severely limit parties? choice and the possible effects of these clauses. When succession or separation proceedings are pending, it is often only possible to institute…

Effectiveness of Gamification in Knee Replacement Rehabilitation : Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial With a Qualitative Approach
2022
Background: Exergames can provide encouraging exercise options. Currently, there is limited evidence regarding home-based exergaming in the postoperative phase of total knee replacement (TKR). Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of a 4-month postoperative home-based exergame intervention with an 8-month follow-up on physical function and symptoms among older persons undergoing TKR compared with home exercise using a standard protocol. In addition, a concurrent embedded design of a mixed methods study was used by including a qualitative component within a quantitative study of exergame effects. Methods: This was a dual-center, nonblinded, two-arm, parallel group randomized…
EMERGING ROLE OF ULTRASOUND IMAGING ASSOCIATED TO CLINICAL NEUROPHYSIOLOGY AS A SUPPLEMENTARY DIAGNOSTICS TECHNIQUE OF PERIPHERAL NERVES PATHOLOGIES:…
2013
PURPOSE: to show the relevance of peripheral nerve ultrasound imaging as a supplementary technique in a clinical neurophysiological evaluation. METHODS: peripheral nerves ultrasound (US) examination was performed in patients with a medical history of nerve entrapment and/or post-traumatic neuropathy but with clinical or neurophysiological unusual findings. A 10-18 MHz transducer was used. RESULTS: we recruited 50 patients with clinical evidence of peripheral neuropathies (25M, 25F): 24 median nerves, 1 anterior interosseous, 14 ulnar, 3 brachial plexus, 2 posterior interosseus, 1 superficial radial, 1 superficial peroneal and 4 common peroneal nerves. Overall 20/50 patients had a history of…
