DELEZIONE CROMOSOMICA CRIPTICA 1p31.1: EFFICACIA DELLA TERAPIA COMBINATA CON L-TIROXINA, GH ED LHRHa PER MIGLIORARE LA PROGNOSI STATURALE

2019

Malformations of central nervous system: General issues

2013

Malformations of the central nervous system (CNS) encompass a heterogeneous group of congenital anomalies that may be isolated or appear as part of a genetic syndrome. Advances in identifying the genetic etiology underlying many CNS malformation and syndromes have led to the current genetic-based classifications that allows us to better estimate prognosis and potential complications. Herein, we discuss the main genetic, clinical and radiological features and their implications for diagnostic testing and disease management

Evolutionary processes in the emergence and recent spread of the syphilis agent, Treponema pallidum

2022

Abstract The incidence of syphilis has risen worldwide in the last decade in spite of being an easily treated infection. The causative agent of this sexually transmitted disease is the bacterium Treponema pallidum subspecies pallidum (TPA), very closely related to subsp. pertenue (TPE) and endemicum (TEN), responsible for the human treponematoses yaws and bejel, respectively. Although much focus has been placed on the question of the spatial and temporary origins of TPA, the processes driving the evolution and epidemiological spread of TPA since its divergence from TPE and TEN are not well understood. Here, we investigate the effects of recombination and selection as forces of genetic diver…

The effects of using participatory working time scheduling software on working hour characteristics and wellbeing : a quasi-experimental study of irr…

2020

Background: Studies in the health care sector indicate that good work time control is associated with better perceived wellbeing but also with non-ergonomic work schedules, such as compressed work schedules. Participatory working time scheduling is a collaborative approach to scheduling shift work. Currently, there is a lack of information on whether working hour characteristics and employees' wellbeing in irregular shift work change after implementing participatory working time scheduling. Objective: To investigate the effects of using digital participatory working time scheduling software on working hour characteristics and well-being among Finnish hospital employees. Participants and met…

Neck and Shoulder Muscle Activation Among Experienced and Inexperienced Pilots in +Gz Exposure

2017

Background The aim of the present study was to compare differences in electromyography (EMG) activation of the neck and shoulder muscles between groups of inexperienced and experienced pilots during controlled +Gz exposure in a centrifuge. Methods The subjects were volunteer cadets (inexperienced group) and lieutenants (experienced group) undergoing their first centrifuge training. The first group did not have any high performance aircraft (HPA) experience, while the latter one had a 1-yr experience of intense flying of HPA. During the centrifuge run, EMG activity was recorded from the left and right shoulder, neck flexor, and neck extensor muscles. Results The pilots without HPA experience…

Partial Discharge Behaviour Evaluation on MOSFET Employed in Automotive Applications

2022

This paper is focused on the measurement of partial discharges in the Silicon Carbide MOSFET. The latter represents a recent developed power electronics device, which has improved characteristics compared to the traditional Silicon MOSFET. The new technology has been conceived in order to satisfy the new market needs. With the ever-increasing development of the electric mobility sector, the need for ever more performing electronic power devices grows. The main features provided by the Silicon Carbide device were found in literature and concern a great thermal conductivity, wide bandgap, high power and high working temperature. However, considering the high voltage at which these devices wor…

Effect of E. coli biofilm formation and removal on passive films on AISI 316L during fermentation processes

2021

Abstract 316L coupons were sanitized in hot water vapour inducing iron enrichment in passive films. Coupons were then immersed in a pilot fed-batch fermenter in presence of E. coli. Sanitization causes iron enrichment in passive films. Fermentation causes the growth of biofilm on the SS, constituted by bacteria embedded in an extracellular polymeric substance. During fermentation SS open circuit potential is very negative due to low oxygen concentration on its surface, while the chelating action of siderophores induces chromium enrichment in the passive film. Disinfection in NaClO for 30 min allows removal of biofilm and formation of a protective passive film.

Toward a Collective Agenda on AI for Earth Science Data Analysis

2021

In the last years we have witnessed the fields of geosciences and remote sensing and artificial intelligence to become closer. Thanks to both the massive availability of observational data, improved simulations, and algorithmic advances, these disciplines have found common objectives and challenges to advance the modeling and understanding of the Earth system. Despite such great opportunities, we also observed a worrying tendency to remain in disciplinary comfort zones applying recent advances from artificial intelligence on well resolved remote sensing problems. Here we take a position on research directions where we think the interface between these fields will have the most impact and be…
