Abstract The clinical spectrum of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) is wide, ranging from minor, nonspecific symptoms to severe pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, multiorgan involvement, and shock. In severe cases, the acute systemic inflammatory response, coagulation activation, and diffuse endothelial damage may, in combination with hypoxia, immobilization, and underlying risk factors, result in potentially life‐threatening venous and arterial thrombotic events. This study examined the effects of cold-water immersion (CWI) and cold air therapy (CAT) on maximal cycling performance (i.e. anaerobic power) and markers of muscle damage following a strength training session. Studies into the polio virus began in Valencia in 1959 with the work undertaken by the microbiologist Vicente Sanchis-Bayarri Vaillant. After his education at the Rochester University and at the Pasteur Institute, Sanchis-Bayarri Vaillant established a laboratory of cell cultures at the Faculty of Medicine in Valencia, where he developed a new diagnostic technique for the poliomyelitis virus. In addition, epidemiological studies were carried out both prior to and post the 1963 vaccination campaign, which proved that Sabin’s oral vaccine was both effective and safe for use.
