Is large-scale rapid CoV-2 testing a substitute for lockdowns?

Background Various forms of contact restrictions have been adopted in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Around February 2021, rapid testing appeared as a new policy instrument. Some claim it may serve as a substitute for contact restrictions. We study the strength of this argument by evaluating the effects of a unique policy experiment: In March and April 2021, the city of Tübingen set up a testing scheme while relaxing contact restrictions. Methods We compare case rates in Tübingen county to an appropriately identified control unit. We employ the synthetic control method. How Long-Term Contracts can Mitigate Inefficient Renegotiation Arising Due to Loss Aversion

A loss-averse buyer and seller face an uncertain environment. Should they write a long-term contract or wait until the state of the world is realized? I show that simple long-term contracts perform better than insinuated in Herweg and Schmidt (2015), even though loss aversion makes renegotiation sometimes inefficient. During renegotiation, the outcome induced by the long-term contract constitutes the reference point to which the parties compare gains and losses induced by the renegotiated transaction. A previous study also supported the viability of measuring these two styles with the BenCor in 22 countries. Workplace Heterogeneity and the Returns to Versatility

Abstract In the canonical random on-the-job search model with continuous firm heterogeneity, I show that a mean-preserving spread of the firm-productivity distribution raises the returns to mobility, i.e., the inter-firm mobility of workers as measured by the number of outside contacts per employment spell. Both sorting and rent-share mechanisms play a role. In a further contribution, I distinguish frictional and structural impediments to mobility in order to establish a link between mobility and skills via the concept of versatility. Masteroppgave i idrettsvitenskap, Høgskolen i Agder Kristiansand Hensikt Hovedintensjonen med denne studien var å kartlegge den fysiske formen blant 13 til 15 åringer i Kristiansand kommune. I tillegg ble det sett nærmere på hvilken innvirkning pubertetsutviklingen har på den fysiske formen, hvilken innvirkning fysisk aktivitetsnivå har på fysisk form, samt hvor stor forekomsten av overvekt var for denne aldersgruppe. Metode Alle kommunale ungdomsskoler i Kristiansand kommune ble invitert og takket ja til å delta i prosjektet ”Ung i balanse”. Målgruppen var elever i 8. klasse høsten 2004.
