Measuring Populist Attitudes on Three Dimensions
2018
Theoretically, populism has been conceptualized as a political ideology with three sub-dimensions: anti-elitism attitudes, a preference for popular sovereignty, and a belief in the homogeneity and virtuousness of the people. However, empirical research to date has treated populist attitudes as a unidimensional construct. To address this issue, we propose to conceptualize populist attitudes as a latent higher-order construct with three distinct first-order dimensions. A 12-item inventory was developed using two survey studies conducted in Switzerland in 2014 and 2015. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were used to test the construct validity of this measure of populist attitudes. …
A Simple Fusion Method for Image Time Series Based on the Estimation of Image Temporal Validity
2015
High-spatial-resolution satellites usually have the constraint of a low temporal frequency, which leads to long periods without information in cloudy areas. Furthermore, low-spatial-resolution satellites have higher revisit cycles. Combining information from high- and low- spatial-resolution satellites is thought a key factor for studies that require dense time series of high-resolution images, e.g., crop monitoring. There are several fusion methods in the bibliography, but they are time-consuming and complicated to implement. Moreover, the local evaluation of the fused images is rarely analyzed. In this paper, we present a simple and fast fusion method based on a weighted average of two in…
Challenges of translation process research at the workplace
2014
Translation usually takes place at translators’ workplaces, yet much translation process research refers to data collected under controlled conditions such as the classroom or the lab. Pursuant with recent descriptions of translation as a situated activity comes the necessity of investigating that activity where and when it occurs. Many of the methods that have proved useful in the lab have also been applied in the field, and some of the challenges associated with investigating translation at the workplace are common to any kind of empirical translation research. However, certain workplace constraints present special challenges to everyone involved. Some solutions that were developed for a …

2019
This study analyzes the presence of messianic and millennial beliefs in the last period of Ferdinand the Catholic?s reign. For this and after a brief state of the art, we analyze the use of the Christian prophecy of the millennium in speeches and memorials arising from the war in Naples, the North African campaign and the Pisan schism.
For å undersøke hvordan stress påvi…
2014
Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap- Universitetet i Agder , 2014 Football is in its simplest form, a game where you have to kick a leather ball into a goal. By itself, it creates no values to society. The values football creates for society is through relationships the football club have to other parts of society. These relationships are looked upon in a system theoretical perspective. Through qualitative interviews with systems that have a structural link to the football club, it examined the relevance and foundation IK Start has in the rest of society. A system cannot, according to Luhmann (2000) maintain its existence without structural links to other systems in society. The system, which is…
2014
Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap- Universitetet i Agder 2014 Background: The subject of this study is talent development in soccer, with a focus on Norwegian Premier League players sporting background. The theory of deliberate practice (Ericsson et al., 1993) and “Developmental Model of Sports Participation” (Cote, Baker, & Abernethy, 2003) served as the theoretical foundations. Aim of study: The aim of this study was to: 1) analyze 5 Norwegian Premier League players involvement in various sporting activities through their development. 2) Identify which factors the players consider important to achieve expert level in soccer. 3) Investigate how soccer players perceive deliberate practice. Met…
