Labor-Market Returns to Higher Vocational Schooling

This paper examines the labor-market returns to a new form of postsecondary vocational education, vocational master's degrees. We use individual fixed effects models on the matched sample of students and non-students from Finland to capture any time-invariant differences across individuals. Attendance in vocational master's programs leads to higher earnings of eight percent five years after entry even if selection on unobservables is twice as strong as selection on observables. Earnings gains are similar by gender and age, but they are marginally higher for health than for business or technology and trades. nonPeerReviewed

Purpose. Massive irreparable posterosuperior rotator cuff tears in an active population, resulting in a pseudo-paralytic shoulder, pose a challenge for the orthopaedic surgeon. In an effort to avoid or delay arthroplasty surgery, other surgical strategies such as arthroscopically-assisted latissimus dorsi transfer (aLDT) or the implantation of a subacromial spacer (SAS) can be considered. Memory CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) can protect against viral reinfection. However, the signals driving rapid memory CTL reactivation have remained ill-defined. Viral infections can trigger the release of the alarmin interleukin-33 (IL-33) from non-hematopoietic cells. IL-33 signals through its unique receptor ST2 to promote primary effector expansion and activation of CTLs. Here, we show that the transcription factor STAT4 regulated the expression of ST2 on CTLs in vitro and in vivo in primary infections with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV). The article points out that the presence of Corellian fragments in Tirant does not only affect his published works,but also those that were never printed and that must have been orally transmitted. The author finds evidence of oral performance, and of a constant amplifying and simplifying process of a hypo-text, which seems to reflect an ornamental, free and creative use of paragraphs that does not influence the narrative flow.

The essay's main purpose is to eradicate the topic that the Blaquerna is in fact Llull’s autobiography and that the LAA reflects in a direct way R. Llull's mystical experience. While the LAA fits perfectly the general structure of the Blaquerna and could very well nave originally been conceived as a part of this novel, the evidence so far available seems to indicate that the LAA never existed as an independent text.
El «llibre cortés de lectura» en català: a propòsit del manuscrit F-129 del Col·legi de la Sapiència de Palma

The manuscript F-129 of the Col·legi de la Sapiència de Palma contains three works of Ramon Llull. It is made up of two separate manuscripts belonging to the first generation of Lullian codices (that is, not later than the first quarter of the fourteenth century). This collection is preceded by a remarkable full-page illustration, an analysis of which shows that it was probably based on a similar miniature from a French codex emanating from Llull’s immediate circle. The codicological model applicable to this manuscrit is that of «libro cortese di lettura».
