Copyright Laws and Digital Piracy in Music Industries : The Relevance of Traditional Copyright Laws in the Digital Age and How Music Industries shoul…
2020
Master's thesis in Music management (MU501) The copyright laws formed in the publishing age in the eighteenth century have come a long way to the twenty-first century of the modern digital age. From the Statute of Anne in 1710 to Music Modernization Act in the U.S. and Article 17 in the European Union in 2018, several conventions held up until this date, but there are still issues or even more issues emerging in the music industries. On the other hand, digital technologies have been rapidly growing with the advent and access of the internet, which has dramatically reformed traditional music business models. Even after the successful shut down of Napster by RIAA, the music industries are con…
TONO-reporting in Norwegian Churches : A quantitative study and analysis of reporting practices and its prominence amongst free churches in Norway
2021
Master's thesis in Music management (MU501) Modern churches are some of the most frequent music users in our society. Many of them have several services during a week, and worship music is a very important component here. Contemporary worship music is performed in churches all over the world each week, and new songs are constantly added to the “pool”. This is also the case in Norway. When music is performed, copyright is involved. According to copyright law, music cannot be performed publicly without a license. In Norway, there are certain arrangements to ensure this for music venues, but also for churches. Based on my experience as a worship musician for many years, I wondered how well thi…
Linking Small-scale Solar Wind Properties with Large-scale Coronal Source Regions through Joint Parker Solar Probe–Metis/Solar Orbiter Observations
2022
Abstract The solar wind measured in situ by Parker Solar Probe in the very inner heliosphere is studied in combination with the remote-sensing observation of the coronal source region provided by the METIS coronagraph aboard Solar Orbiter. The coronal outflows observed near the ecliptic by Metis on 2021 January 17 at 16:30 UT, between 3.5 and 6.3 R ⊙ above the eastern solar limb, can be associated with the streams sampled by PSP at 0.11 and 0.26 au from the Sun, in two time intervals almost 5 days apart. The two plasma flows come from two distinct source regions, characterized by different magnetic field polarity and intensity at the coronal base. It follows that both the global and local p…
"Pārrobežu maksātnespējas procesa problēmas"
2016
Maģistra darbā „Pārrobežu maksātnespējas procesa problēmas” pētīti maksātnespējas procesi, kuros piemēro Eiropas parlamenta un Padomes Regulas (EK) Nr.1346/2000 par pārrobežu maksātnespējas procedūrām normas. Darbā pētīta regulas piemērošanas prakse Latvijas un Eiropas Savienības valstu tiesās. Pētījuma mērķis: izpētīt pārrobežu maksātnespējas procesa problēmas. Pētījuma uzdevumi: izpētīt pārrobežu maksātnespējas procesu tiesisko regulējumu; galvenā interešu centra noteikšanas problēmas; kreditoru tiesību un informācijas nodrošināšanas problēmas. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka pārrobežu maksātnespējas procesa problēmas Latvijas praksē nav identificētas pietiekošā mērā, tiesas piemēro atšķir…
Bitter, Sweet, Salty, Sour and Umami Taste Perception Decreases with Age: Sex-Specific Analysis, Modulation by Genetic Variants and Taste-Preference …
2018
There is growing interest in relating taste perception to diet and healthy aging. However, there is still limited information on the influence of age, sex and genetics on taste acuity as well as on the relationship between taste perception and taste preferences. We have analysed the influence of age on the intensity rating of the five basic tastes: sweet, salty, bitter, sour and umami (separately and jointly in a &ldquo

Impact of Donor Human Milk in the Preterm Very Low Birth Weight Gut Transcriptome Profile by Use of Exfoliated Intestinal Cells
2019
[Background] Own mother’s milk (OMM) is the optimal nutrition for preterm infants. However, pasteurized donor human milk (DHM) is a valid alternative. We explored the differences of the transcriptome in exfoliated epithelial intestinal cells (EEIC) of preterm infants receiving full feed with OMM or DHM.
Family History of Premature Coronary Artery Disease (P-CAD)—A Non-Modifiable Risk Factor? Dietary Patterns of Young Healthy Offspring of P-CAD Patien…
2018
Dietary habits of healthy offspring with a positive family history of premature coronary artery disease (P-CAD) have not been studied so far. The aim of this study was twofold: (1) to identify dietary patterns in a sample of young healthy adults with (cases) and without (controls) family history of P-CAD, and (2) to study the association between dietary patterns and family history of P-CAD. The data came from the MAGNETIC case-control study. The participants were healthy adults aged 18&ndash
Magnesium in Infectious Diseases in Older People
2021
Reduced magnesium (Mg) intake is a frequent cause of deficiency with age together with reduced absorption, renal wasting, and polypharmacotherapy. Chronic Mg deficiency may result in increased oxidative stress and low-grade inflammation, which may be linked to several age-related diseases, including higher predisposition to infectious diseases. Mg might play a role in the immune response being a cofactor for immunoglobulin synthesis and other processes strictly associated with the function of T and B cells. Mg is necessary for the biosynthesis, transport, and activation of vitamin D, another key factor in the pathogenesis of infectious diseases. The regulation of cytosolic free Mg in immune…
Validation of the German Version of the Power of Food Scale in a General Population Sample
2019
Objective: The Power of Food Scale (PFS) is a self-report instrument for assessing appetitive motivation in the absence of caloric needs. The study aim was to validate the German PFS version in a large population sample. Methods: Complete information on all PFS items was available from 2,421 respondents (age ≥14) of a nationally representative sample of the German population. We examined the psychometric properties of the German PFS version and provided population-based normative data. Results: The 3-factor structure of the original scale was replicated in confirmatory factor an…
