They are as following: - In which way can activities with horses contribute to make network and social support for the users? - In which way can activities with horses contribute to the sense of achievement and empowerment for the users? - To what extent experience those who are accountable for the horses the differences between t…
Social Services, Social Innovation and Multi-Actor Collaboration: A Civil Society Organisation Perspective
2022
A central focus of this PhD dissertation is to advance an understanding of how social innovation is generated through the perspective of civil society organisations (CSOs) that provide social services to vulnerable groups through collaboration with multiple actors in the fragile context, with a legacy of war. An “agency-structure” approach has been applied as an overarching perspective throughout this dissertation. Theories such as institutional theory (new institutionalism and institutional networking), resource-dependency theory as well as the concepts of social innovation, collaboration, non-state service provision, NGO-isation and the third sector-public services provision present the m…
Sexual violence and children's rights : A mixed methods study of teachers' and students' perceptions of teaching practice in social science education.
2023
The purpose of this doctoral dissertation in social science education is to explore teachers' and students' perceptions of teaching practice related to gender, sexuality, harassment, and abuse in upper secondary school in Norway. This is an article-based dissertation consisting of three articles and an extended abstract. Few studies have addressed teachers" and students' perceptions of teaching practice concerning sensitive issues in the mandatory subject for social science in Norwegian upper secondary school. Previous research has indicated that teaching practice on gender, sexuality, harassment and abuse varies greatly, but few studies have thoroughly examined how we can understand this v…
Morskap, migrasjon og digitale medier : En institusjonell etnografi av den digitaliserte hverdagen til mødre med migrasjonsbakgrunn
2021
Paper III will be available from 25/11/2021. In the dissertation, I explore how mothers who have migrated to Norway as adults experience mothering in today’s digitalised Norwegian society. Unique to my project is that I study how practices and ideals related to both parenting and digitalisation in welfare state institutions may shape how migrant mothers’ experience their mothering. I also contribute to the discussion of what social work can include, at a time when digitalisation is changing family life, social work and society at large.

I randsonen av den norske velferdsstaten. Arbeidsledige polske migranters erfaringer med tilgang til offentlige velferdsytelser og møter med NAV.
2023
This thesis seeks to answer two research questions: How do unemployed Polish migrants in Norway experience their access to public welfare benefits and their encounters with NAV? And how are these experiences institutionally shaped? As EEA citizens, Polish migrants are free to enter and work in any EEA country, thus enjoying a privileged status. However, they can end up in a vulnerable position if they become unemployed. EEA migrants’ rights to public welfare benefits are characterised by legal grey zones and ambiguity. In many ways, EEA mobility disrupts and blurs the boundaries of citizenship and national states. This study explores the experiences of dealing with the Norwegian welfare adm…
Ungdoms inngang til og møte med barnevernet
2021
The topic of this dissertation is reports of concern to the Norwegian Child Welfare Service (CWS). Reports of concern is the most common way children and families get in contact with the CWS. Whether a report of concern is given to the CWS and what the service decides to do with it, is crucial for providing children with appropriate help. Despite the importance of how reports of concern are being dealt with, research on the topic remain scarce. The scope of this dissertation is to get knowledge about young people’s experiences of getting in contact with the CWS. The main question of the dissertation is: Which experiences did youth have regarding reaching out to the child welfare service? Wh…
