Analysis of connexin (Cx36 and Cx45) expression in the carotid body, adrenal medulla and enteric neurons of both mouse and rat

2009

Cx36 and Cx45 are considered the main connexins expressed in neuronal cells of central nervous system (Belluardo N. et al. Brain Res. 2000)), but at present no complete data are available on their expression in the neurons of crest-derived neuroendocrine organ, such as the adrenal medulla, the carotid body and the enteric nervous system. Therefore the present study was undertaken to evaluate using immunohistochemistry and western blotting procedures, both in rat and mouse, whether Cx36 and Cx45 were expressed in neuronal cells of the carotid body, adrenal medulla and myenteric plexus at ileum and colon level. In the carotid body of both mouse and rat only Cx45 was found expressed as diffuse…

El coneixement i l'ús de les aplicacions educatives dels estudiants universitaris d'Espanya i la República Txeca

2020

Technological evolution has led to many changes at both professional and academic levels. The inclusion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has caused dizzying changes in the different contexts of life (educational, professional, social). More and more applications are being downloaded by users to their mobile devices, both for entertainment and training. For this reason, this study is based on the need to assess the knowledge and attitude of university students towards downloading existing educational applications. In this way, the use and frequency of these tools in the teaching-learning process of the students will be analyzed. In order to carry out this study, the quanti…

The Chaperone Activity of Clusterin is Dependent on Glycosylation and Redox Environment

2014

Background/Aims: Clusterin (CLU), also known as Apolipoprotein J (ApoJ) is a highly glycosylated extracellular chaperone. In humans it is expressed from a broad spectrum of tissues and related to a plethora of physiological and pathophysiological processes, such as Alzheimer's disease, atherosclerosis and cancer. In its dominant form it is expressed as a secretory protein (secreted CLU, sCLU). During its maturation, the sCLU-precursor is N-glycosylated and cleaved into an α- and a β-chain, which are connected by five symmetrical disulfide bonds. Recently, it has been demonstrated that besides the predominant sCLU, rare intracellular CLU forms are expressed in stressed cells. Since these for…

COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF DATA PREPROCESSING SOFTWARE TOOLS TO INCREASE EFFICIENCY AND ACCURACY IN DIFFUSION KURTOSIS IMAGING

2016

Introduction: Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is the most commonly used technique to extract microstructural features from a set of diffusionweighted images. In addition to the metrics obtained with DTI, diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) can provide non-Gaussian diffusion measures by means of the kurtosis tensor. DKI has shown to be more sensitive to tissue microstructural changes in both normal and pathological neural tissue. In a clinical setting, however, these benefits are often nullified by numerous acquisition artifacts. The aim of this study was compare two preprocessing software for DTI apply to DKI. Also, the major preprocessing, processing and post-processing procedures applied to D…
