Valokuva-avusteinen 3D-mallinnus
2017
Kolmiulotteisten mallien käyttötarpeiden lisääntyessä on kehitelty erilaisia menetelmiä tuottaa niitä reaalimailman esineistä valokuvia apuna käyttäen. Tämän kandidaatintutkielman tarkoitus on kuvailla erilaisia menetelmiä aina manuaalisista täysin tietokoneavusteisiin. Due to increased demand for three-dimensional models, various methods have been developed to produce them based on real-world objects with the help of photographs. The main goal of this study is to describe such methods.
Numerical Simulations of the Flow Field of a Submerged Hydraulic Jump over Triangular Macroroughnesses
2021
The submerged hydraulic jump is a sudden change from the supercritical to subcritical flow, specified by strong turbulence, air entrainment and energy loss. Despite recent studies, hydraulic jump characteristics in smooth and rough beds, the turbulence, the mean velocity and the flow patterns in the cavity region of a submerged hydraulic jump in the rough beds, especially in the case of triangular macroroughnesses, are not completely understood. The objective of this paper was to numerically investigate via the FLOW-3D model the effects of triangular macroroughnesses on the characteristics of submerged jump, including the longitudinal profile of streamlines, flow patterns in the cavity regi…
Mukautuvat viipalointialgoritmit lisäävässä valmistuksessa
2017
Lisäävä valmistus on kasvattanut nopeasti suosiotaan viime vuosina. Viipalointi on oleellinen osa lisäävää valmistusta, mikä vaikuttaa esimerkiksi valmistettavan esineen pinnan laatuun, valmistusnopeuteen sekä mekaanisiin ominaisuuksiin. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää, minkälaisia ominaisuuksia viipalointialgoritmilta vaaditaan ja minkälaisia menetelmiä niiden toteuttamiseen on olemassa. Mukautuvaa viipalointialgoritmia käyttämällä voidaan nopeuttaa esineen valmistusaikaa ilman, että pinnan laatu heikentyy. Additive manufacturing has rapidly gained popularity in recent years. Slicing is an important part of additive manufacturin processes. It affects the manufactured part’s sur…
Fractalité tridiastatique: propositions conceptuelles pour l'aménagement urbain
2015
AN EXPERIMENTAL WORKFLOW FOR THE VIRTUAL RECONSTRUCTION OF ANCIENT STATUES
2021
The work aims to investigate the main steps of a virtual reconstruction process of ancient statues, inspecting theoretical and technical approaches. Two fragmentary Roman statues from the "Sanctuary of Isis", inside the Archaeological Park of Lilibeo-Marsala (Italy), were chosen as a case study. Trying to preserve the original artwork authenticity and the transparency of the reconstruction method, a workflow was developed following three steps: 1) 3D survey and reality based model production; 2) evaluation of reconstruction hypotheses based on a rigorous selection of reference sources; 3) 3D modelling and source-based model creation. Three models for multiple visualization purposes were car…
Characterization of three-dimensional microstructure of composite materials by X-ray tomography
2016
Analysis methods for X-ray microtomographic images of short fibre composite materials were developed. The methods enable estimation of microstructural properties of the material, e.g., aspect ratio and orientation of fibres. Being based on X-ray microtomography and image analysis, the methods are nondestructive and do not require user intervention. In particular, a method for determination of the aspect ratio of fibres was first developed. The method contains an assumption about similarity of the shape of the fibres. The assumption was relaxed in an improved method that can estimate cross-sectional properties of fibres, too, e.g., cross-sectional area. Additionally, the effect of finite ima…
