Sensitivity of 3He NMR parameters to the proximity of heterocyclic rings. The helium–furan dimer
2014
The potential of NMR technique in probing the interaction between a noble gas atom (used as a spectroscopic probe) and five-membered heterocyclic systems was theoretically studied. Selected 3He NMR parameters of free noble gas atom and its dimer were calculated using density functional theory with three functionals (M06-2X, CAM-B3LYP, and APFD), combined with dedicated polarization-consistent basis sets, and critically compared with theoretical high level calculations from the literature. The change of sotropic nuclear magnetic shielding of free noble gas atom in the presence of furan (3He placed above he middle of the ring and used as NMR probe) increased with its proximity to the heterocy…
Non-symmetrized Hyperspherical Harmonics Method for Non-equal Mass Three-Body Systems
2018
The non-symmetrized hyperspherical harmonics method for a three-body system, composed by two particles having equal masses, but different from the mass of the third particle, is reviewed and applied to the $^3$H, $^3$He nuclei and $^3_{\Lambda}$H hyper-nucleus, seen respectively as $nnp$, $ppn$ and $NN\Lambda$ three-body systems. The convergence of the method is first tested in order to estimate its accuracy. Then, the difference of binding energy between $^3$H and $^3$He due to the difference of the proton and the neutron masses is studied using several central spin-independent and spin-dependent potentials. Finally, the $^3_{\Lambda}$H hypernucleus binding energy is calculated using diffe…

Elliptic flow ($v_{2}$) of (anti-)$^{3}$He measured in Pb-Pb collisions at \sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}} = 5.02 TeV for the centrality classes 0--20$\%$, 20--40$\%$, and 40--60$\%$. The statistical uncertainties are shown as vertical bars, systematic uncertainties as boxes.

Noble-gas signature of magmas from a heterogeneous mantle wedge: The case of Stromboli volcano (Aeolian Islands, Italy)
2014
Abstract We report on the variation of the elemental (He, Ne, and Ar) and isotopic (He and Ar) compositions of olivine- and clinopyroxene-hosted fluid inclusions hosted in lavas, pyroclastics, and cumulate xenoliths from the last 60 ka of the eruptive history of Stromboli volcano, Italy. Samples belong to (i) the present-day activity as represented by shoshonitic (SHO) basalts, i.e., pumices with low porphyritic (LP) content and high porphyritic (HP) scoriae; (ii) the subalkaline versus alkaline products erupted at Stromboli during its subaerial history among the extreme magmatic series, i.e., calc-alkaline (CA) and potassic (KS); and (iii) the only known ultramafic cumulates (San Bartolo w…
3 He/4He Signature of Magmatic Fluids from Telica (Nicaragua) and Baru (Panama) Volcanoes, Central American Volcanic Arc
2022
Constraining the magmatic 3He/4He signature of fluids degassed from a magmatic system is crucial for making inferences on its mantle source. This is especially important in arc volcanism, where variations in the composition of the wedge potentially induced by slab sediment fluids must be distinguished from the effects of magma differentiation, degassing, and crustal contamination. The study of fluid inclusions (FIs) trapped in minerals of volcanic rocks is becoming an increasingly used methodology in geochemical studies that integrates the classical study of volcanic and geothermal fluids. Here, we report on the first noble gas (He, Ne, Ar) concentrations and isotopic ratios of FI in olivin…
Production of deuterons, tritons, 3He nuclei, and their antinuclei in pp collisions at √s = 0.9, 2.76, and 7 TeV
2018
Invariant differential yields of deuterons and antideuterons in p p collisions at √ s = 0.9, 2.76 and 7 TeV and the yields of tritons, 3 He nuclei, and their antinuclei at √ s = 7 TeV have been measured with the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurements cover a wide transverse momentum ( p T ) range in the rapidity interval | y | < 0.5 , extending both the energy and the p T reach of previous measurements up to 3 GeV/ c for A = 2 and 6 GeV/ c for A = 3 . The coalescence parameters of (anti)deuterons and 3 ¯¯¯¯ He nuclei exhibit an increasing trend with p T and are found to be compatible with measurements in p A collisions at low p T and lower energies. The integrate…
Formation of dislocations in LiF irradiated with 3He and 4He ions
2018
Influence of the irradiation with 13.5 MeV 3He and 5 MeV 4He ions on the micro-structure and mechanical properties of LiF single crystals was studied. The depth profiles of nanoindentation, dislocation mobility, selective chemical etching and photoluminescence served for the characterization of damage. Strong ion-induced increase of hardness and decrease in dislocation mobility at the stage of track overlapping due to accumulation of dislocations and other extended defects was observed. At high fluences (1015 ions/cm2) the hardness saturates at about 3.5 GPa (twofold increase in comparison to a virgin crystal) thus confirming high efficiency of light projectiles in modifications of structur…
