Characterisation of the structure-function relationship of the Bacillus thuringiensis Vip3A insecticidal proteins
2017
Combining Hexanoic Acid Plant Priming with Bacillus thuringiensis Insecticidal Activity against Colorado Potato Beetle
2013
Interaction between insect herbivores and host plants can be modulated by endogenous and exogenous compounds present in the source of food and might be successfully exploited in Colorado potato beetle (CPB) pest management. Feeding tests with CPB larvae reared on three solanaceous plants (potato, eggplant and tomato) resulted in variable larval growth rates and differential susceptibility to Bacillus thuringiensis Cry3Aa toxin as a function of the host plant. An inverse correlation with toxicity was observed in Cry3Aa proteolytic patterns generated by CPB midgut brush-border membrane vesicles (BBMV) from Solanaceae-fed larvae, being the toxin most extensively proteolyzed on potato, followed…
Mechanisms and parameters controlling the tricalcium aluminate reactivity in the presence of gypsum.
2007
International audience; To understand the mechanisms and the parameters controlling the reactivity of tricalcium aluminate in the presence of gypsum at an early age, a study of the hydration of the “C3A–sulphate” system by isothermal microcalorimetry, conductimetry and a monitoring of the ionic concentrations of diluted system suspensions have been carried out with various gypsum quantities. The role of C3A source and its fineness were also studied. This work shows the fast initial formation of AFm phase followed by ettringite formation during the period when the sulphate is consumed. It has been highlighted that the time necessary to consume all the gypsum varies with the type of C3A and i…
Early C3A hydration in the presence of different kinds of calcium sulfate.
2009
International audience; Hydration reactions of C3A with various amounts of calcium sulfate hemihydrate, gypsum or a mixture of two, were investigated by isothermal microcalorimetry, and a monitoring of the ionic concentrations of diluted suspensions. This study shows that sulfate type used modifies the early C3A-CaSO4 hydration products and the rate of this hydration. The fast initial AFm formation observed before ettringite precipitation in the C3A-gypsum system is avoided as soon as hemihydrate is present in the suspension. This was attributed to.higher super saturation degrees and then higher nucleation frequency with regard to the ettringite obtained in the presence of hemihydrate. More…
Structure–activity relationships, and drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic properties for indazole piperazine and indazole piperidine inhibitors of RO…
2007
ROCK has been implicated in many diseases ranging from glaucoma to spinal cord injury and is therefore an important target for therapeutic intervention. In this study, we have designed a series of 1-(4-(1H-indazol-5-yl)piperazin-1-yl)-2-hydroxy(or 2-amino) analogs and a series of 1-(4-(1H-indazol-5-yl amino)piperidin-1-yl)-2-hydroxy(or 2-amino) inhibitors of ROCK-II. SR-1459 has IC50 = 13 nM versus ROCK-II while the IC50s for SR-715 and SR-899 are 80 nM and 100 nM, respectively. Many of these inhibitors, especially the 2-amino substituted analogs for both series, are modest/potent CYP3A4 inhibitors as well. However, a few of these inhibitors (SR-715 and SR-899) show strong selectivity for R…
Study of nucleation-growth processes of ettringite, alone or in a tricalcium aluminate/calcium sulfate system
2019
Ettringite Ca6Al2(SO4)3(OH)12.26H2O is one of the main hydration products of cements but despite the importance of this compound for cement chemistry, laws governing its precipitation processes have been poorly studied. This PhD thesis was entirely focused on the study of ettringite and on its nucleation-growth mechanisms.Ettringite precipitation was first studied alone from supersaturated ionic solutions. Experiments were designed in order to study separately processes of nucleation and growth. The Classical Theory of Nucleation was applied and allowed the determination of the interfacial energy of ettringite. A global description of ettringite precipitation process has been suggested. It …
Genetic signature consistent with selection against the CYP3A4*1B allele in non-African populations.
2005
Cytochrome P450 3A enzymes (CYP3A) play a major role in the metabolism of steroid hormones, drugs and other chemicals, including many carcinogens. The individually variable CYP3A expression, which remains mostly unexplained, has been suggested to affect clinical phenotypes. We investigated the CYP3A locus in five ethnic groups. The degree of linkage disequilibrium (LD) differed among ethnic groups, but the most common alleles of the conserved LD regions were remarkably similar. Non-African haplotypes are few; for example, only four haplotypes account for 80% of common European Caucasian alleles. Large LD blocks of high frequencies were suggestive of selection. Accordingly, European Caucasia…
Pharmacogenetic Study of ABCB1 and CYP3A5 Genes During the First Year Following Heart Transplantation Regarding Tacrolimus or Cyclosporine Levels
2011
Pharmacogenetics explains part of the interindividual variability in drug responses. Many published works about the effects of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on immunosuppressive drug blood levels present contradictory results. We evaluated the SNPs in ABCB1 (glycoprotein P) and CYP3A5 (metabolic enzyme) genes, seeking correlate them with tacrolimus or cyclosporine levels during the first year after heart transplantation. One blood sample was obtained from each of 41 patients: 26 treated with cyclosporine and 15 with tacrolimus. We characterize the SNPs rs1045642, 1128503, 2032582, 2235013, 2235033, 2229109, 3213619, 9282564 in ABCB1 and rs10264272, 776746 in CYP3A5 genes using the …
CiC3-1a-Mediated Chemotaxis in the Deuterostome Invertebrate Ciona intestinalis (Urochordata)
2003
Abstract Deuterostome invertebrates possess complement genes, and in limited instances complement-mediated functions have been reported in these organisms. However, the organization of the complement pathway(s), as well as the functions exerted by the cloned gene products, are largely unknown. To address the issue of the presence of an inflammatory pathway in ascidians, we expressed in Escherichia coli the fragment of Ciona intestinalis C3-1 corresponding to mammalian complement C3a (rCiC3-1a) and assessed its chemotactic activity on C. intestinalis hemocytes. We found that the migration of C. intestinalis hemocytes toward rCiC3-1a was dose dependent, peaking at 500 nM, and was specific for…
