Pitkä aitajuoksumatka 400 m aidat on laji, jossa juostaan yksi aidattu ratakierros yleisurheilukentän juoksuradalla. Lähtö tapahtuu lähtötelineistä. Alkusileä on 45 m pitkä, aitoja on yhteensä 10 kappaletta, aitavälien pituus on 35 m ja loppusileä on 40 m. Biomekaniikka. Hyvässä pikajuoksussa lantio on ylhäällä ja edessä. Jalka painetaan kehon alle päkiä edellä, ja askelkontakti on pyyhkäisevä kuopaisu. Negative and positive Kerr nonlinearity of air calibrated with transient molecular alignment

Sign reversal associated to negative nonlinearity is observed above a pulse intensity of 26 TW/cm^.2

In the solid state, the title compound, C(22)H(10)N(2)S, forms centrosymmetric dimers by pairs of non-classical C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds linking approximately coplanar mol-ecules. The benzene ring involved in this inter-action makes a dihedral angle of only 7.21 (16)° with the thio-phene ring, while the other benzene ring is twisted somewhat out of the plane, with a dihedral angle of 39.58 (9)°. The hydrogen-bonded dimers stack on top of each other with an inter-planar spacing of 3.44 Å. C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link together stacks that run in approximately perpendicular directions. First measurement of quarkonium polarization in nuclear collisions at the LHC

The polarization of inclusive J/$\psi$ and $\Upsilon(1{\rm S})$ produced in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}=5.02$ TeV at the LHC is measured with the ALICE detector. The study is carried out by reconstructing the quarkonium through its decay to muon pairs in the rapidity region $2.5<y<4$ and measuring the polar and azimuthal angular distributions of the muons. The polarization parameters $\lambda_{\theta}$, $\lambda_{\phi}$ and $\lambda_{\theta\phi}$ are measured in the helicity and Collins-Soper reference frames, in the transverse momentum interval $2<p_{\rm T}<10$ GeV/$c$ and $p_{\rm T}<15$ GeV/$c$ for the J/$\psi$ and $\Upsilon(1{\rm S})$, respectively. Effects of satellite transmitters on survival in Snowy Owls Bubo scandiacus

The use of tracking devices to monitor birds is extensive, but the effects of such instruments on equipped individuals are still insufficiently taken into account. Here we evaluate potential effects of backpack-mounted satellite transmitters (platform terminal transmitters; PTTs) on survival of 28 Snowy Owls Bubo scandiacus. Six confirmed deaths were all probably related to natural and human-induced causes. Although PTT operational time was significantly shorter than expected lifetime of Snowy Owls, five owls were observed alive after transmissions ceased. Additionally four PTTs stopped due to low battery levels, indicating end of transmitter life and not owl mortality. We found no evidence…

Also available from the publisher at: http://www.math.kobe-u.ac.jp/~fe/ We study oscillatory behavior of a class of second-order neutral differential equations relating oscillation of these equations to existence of positive solutions to associated first-order functional differential inequalities. Our assumptions allow applications to differential equations with both delayed and advanced arguments, and not only. New theorems complement and improve a number of results reported in the literature. Two illustrative examples are provided.
