SIGNAL ANALYSIS AND PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF A VEHICLE CRASH TEST WITH A FIXED SAFETY BARRIER BASED ON HAAR WAVELETS

2011

Author's version of an article published in the journal: International Journal of Wavelets, Multiresolution and Information Processing. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1142/s0219691311003979 This paper deals with the wavelet-based performance analysis of the safety barrier for use in a full-scale test. The test involves a vehicle, a Ford Fiesta, which strikes the safety barrier at a prescribed angle and speed. The vehicle speed before the collision was measured. Vehicle accelerations in three directions at the center of gravity were measured during the collision. The yaw rate was measured with a gyro meter. Using normal speed and high-speed video cameras, the beha…

Degradation of silica particles functionalised with essential oil components under simulated physiological conditions

2020

[EN] In this work, the biodurability of three silica particle types (synthetic amourphous silica, MCM-41 microparticles, MCM-41 nanoparticles) functionalised with three different essential oil components (carvacrol, eugenol, vanillin) was studied under conditions that represented the human gastrointestinal tract and lysosomal fluid. The effect of particle type, surface immobilised component and mass quantity on the physico-chemical properties of particles and silicon dissolution was determined. Exposure to biological fluids did not bring about changes in the zeta potential values or particle size distribution of the bare or functionalised materials, but the in vitro digestion process partia…

«Jusqu’à nos désirs, jusqu’aux formes de notre plaisir»: feminism’s development in Les Temps modernes

2017

Les Temps Modernes has been a basic ground for the growth both of the second-wave feminism and of the third-wave one, and has skaken old roles also by questioning traditional longings, as some writings we can (re)read here show: several remarks by Simone de Beauvoir, an article by Colette Audry, an issue of the column Le Sexisme ordinaire.

Identification and Evaluation of Hazardous Pyrolysates in Bio-Based Rigid Polyurethane-Polyisocyanurate Foam Smoke

2021

In this study, rigid polyurethane (PU) and polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam samples made from renewable material (tall oil fatty acid) based polyols were analyzed by pyrolysis gas chromatography mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) to obtain information about the full relative smoke content, with a focus on substance identification by their functional groups and hazardousness. The relative content of gaseous products produced during the thermal degradation was evaluated between the two samples, differenced by their assigned isocyanate (NCO) index value—150 and 300. The main thermal degradation components of the rigid PU-PIR foam were found to originate from the decomposition of isocyanate, primarily for…

An initial investigation of smokers’ urges to smoke and their exercise intensity preference: A mixed-methods approach

2016

The purpose of this study was to examine whether smokers preferred a “self-selected” form of physical activity (PA) in which they were allowed to determine themselves the intensity of PA or preferred a “set” form of PA in which the instructor chose the exercise intensity for them. In addition, we examined effects of ‘set” and “self-selected” intensity exercise, on urges to smoke. Participants were 20 (mean age = 27.10 ± 7.37) adults, non-physically active, heavy smokers. Four of them were also interviewed. Results demonstrated that smokers exhibited an enhanced preference for “self-selected” forms of PA as opposed to “set” forms of PA. Smoking urge was significantly lower immediately after…
