On the critical behavior for inhomogeneous wave inequalities with Hardy potential in an exterior domain

2021

Abstract We study the wave inequality with a Hardy potential ∂ t t u − Δ u + λ | x | 2 u ≥ | u | p in  ( 0 , ∞ ) × Ω , $$\begin{array}{} \displaystyle \partial_{tt}u-{\it\Delta} u+\frac{\lambda}{|x|^2}u\geq |u|^p\quad \mbox{in } (0,\infty)\times {\it\Omega}, \end{array}$$ where Ω is the exterior of the unit ball in ℝ N , N ≥ 2, p > 1, and λ ≥ − N − 2 2 2 $\begin{array}{} \displaystyle \left(\frac{N-2}{2}\right)^2 \end{array}$ , under the inhomogeneous boundary condition α ∂ u ∂ ν ( t , x ) + β u ( t , x ) ≥ w ( x ) on  ( 0 , ∞ ) × ∂ Ω , $$\begin{array}{} \displaystyle \alpha \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu}(t,x)+\beta u(t,x)\geq w(x)\quad\mbox{on } (0,\infty)\times \partial{\it\Omega}, \e…

Observation of the Resonant Character of theZ(4430)−State

2014

Resonant structures in B-0 -> psi'pi K--(+) decays are analyzed by performing a four-dimensional fit of the decay amplitude, using pp collision data corresponding to 3 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. The data cannot be described with K+pi(-) resonances alone, which is confirmed with a model-independent approach. A highly significant Z(4430)(-) -> psi'pi(-) component is required, thus confirming the existence of this state. The observed evolution of the Z(4430)(-) amplitude with the psi'pi(-) mass establishes the resonant nature of this particle. The mass and width measurements are substantially improved. The spin parity is determined unambiguously to be 1(+).

On the metal abundances inside mixed-morphology supernova remnants: the case of IC 443  and G166.0+4.3

2009

Recent developments on the study of mixed morphology supernova remnants (MMSNRs) have revealed the presence of metal rich X-ray emitting plasma inside a fraction of these remnant, a feature not properly addressed by traditional models for these objects. Radial profiles of thermodynamical and chemical parameters are needed for a fruitful comparison of data and model of MMSNRs, but these are available only in a few cases. We analyze XMM-Newton data of two MMSNRs, namely IC443 and G166.0+4.3, previously known to have solar metal abundances, and we perform spatially resolved spectral analysis of the X-ray emission. We detected enhanced abundances of Ne, Mg and Si in the hard X-ray bright peak i…

Photoproduction ofZ(4430)through mesonic Regge trajectories exchange

2011

The recently discovered $Z(4430)$ mesonic resonance is believed to be a strong tetraquark candidate. The photoproduction in the channel $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{Z}^{+}(4430)n\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\psi}}^{'}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}n$ has been proposed as the most effective way to confirm the $Z(4430)$ presence and to measure its quantum numbers. In this work we present a model for high-energy and forward-angle $Z(4430)$ photoproduction in a effective Lagrangian approach. This model is based on the use of Regge trajectories exchange, thus a Regge propagator replaces the usual Feynman propagator. The differential and total cross sections and the asymmetries ha…

Model-independent confirmation of theZ(4430)−state

2015

The decay $B^0\to \psi(2S) K^+\pi^-$ is analyzed using $\rm 3~fb^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data collected with the LHCb detector. A model-independent description of the $\psi(2S) \pi$ mass spectrum is obtained, using as input the $K\pi$ mass spectrum and angular distribution derived directly from data, without requiring a theoretical description of resonance shapes or their interference. The hypothesis that the $\psi(2S)\pi$ mass spectrum can be described in terms of $K\pi$ reflections alone is rejected with more than 8$\sigma$ significance. This provides confirmation, in a model-independent way, of the need for an additional resonant component in the mass region of the $Z(4430)^-$ exotic sta…

Search for theZ(4430)−atBABAR

2009

We report the results of a search for Z(4430)^- decay to J/Ψ π^- or Ψ(2S)π^- in B(^-.0)→ J/Ψ π^-K^(0.+) and B^(-.0) → Ψ(2S)π^-K^(0.+) decays. The data were collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider operating at center-of-mass energy 10.58 GeV, and the sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 413 fb^(-1). Each K π^- mass distribution exhibits clear K^*(892) and K_2^*(1430) signals, and the efficiency-corrected spectrum is well described by a superposition of the associated Breit-Wigner intensity distributions, together with an S-wave contribution obtained from the LASS I=1/2 K π^- scattering amplitude measurements. Each K π^- angular dist…

Suppression of sideband frequency shifts in the modulational instability spectra of wave propagation in optical fiber systems

2007

International audience; In standard optical fibers with constant chromatic dispersion, modulational instability (MI) sidebands execute undesirable frequency shifts due to fiber losses. By means of a technique based on average-dispersion decreasing dispersion-managed fibers, we achieve both complete suppression of the sideband frequency shifts and fine control of the MI frequencies, without any compromise in the MI power gain.

BeppoSAX observation of 4U 1705-44: detection of hard X-ray emission in the soft state

2007

4U 1705-44 is one of the best studied type I X-ray burster and atoll sources. Since it covers a wide range in luminosity (from a few to 50 x 10^{36} erg s^{-1}) and shows clear spectral state transitions, it represents a good laboratory to test the accretion models proposed for atoll sources. We analysed the energy spectrum accumulated with BeppoSAX observations (43.5 ksec) in August 2000 when the source was in a soft spectral state. The continuum of the wide band energy spectrum is well described by the sum of a blackbody (kT_{bb}~0.56 keV) and a Comptonized component (seed-photon temperature kT_W~1 keV, electron temperature kT_e~2.7 keV, and optical depth ~11). A hard tail was detected at…

Observation of a Charged Charmoniumlike Structure ine+e−→π+π−J/ψats=4.26  GeV

2013

We study the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-) J/psi at a center-of-mass energy of 4.260 GeV using a 525 pb(-1) data sample collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The Born cross section is measured to be (62.9 +/- 1.9 +/- 3.7) pb, consistent with the production of the Y(4260). We observe a structure at around 3.9 GeV/c(2) in the pi(+/-) J/psi mass spectrum, which we refer to as the Z(c)(3900). If interpreted as a new particle, it is unusual in that it carries an electric charge and couples to charmonium. A fit to the pi(+/-) J/psi invariant mass spectrum, neglecting interference, results in a mass of (3899.0 +/- 3.6 +/- 4.9) MeV/c(2) and a width…

Macroscopic conductivity of free fermions in disordered media

2014

We conclude our analysis of the linear response of charge transport in lattice systems of free fermions subjected to a random potential by deriving general mathematical properties of its conductivity at the macroscopic scale. The present paper belongs to a succession of studies on Ohm and Joule's laws from a thermodynamic viewpoint. We show, in particular, the existence and finiteness of the conductivity measure $\mu _{\mathbf{\Sigma }}$ for macroscopic scales. Then we prove that, similar to the conductivity measure associated to Drude's model, $\mu _{\mathbf{\Sigma }}$ converges in the weak$^{\ast } $-topology to the trivial measure in the case of perfect insulators (strong disorder, compl…
