Dominated polynomials on infinite dimensional spaces

The aim of this paper is to prove a stronger version of a conjecture on the existence of non-dominated scalar-valued m-homogeneous polynomials (m>=3) on arbitrary infinite dimensional Banach spaces.

Unique continuation property and Poincar�� inequality for higher order fractional Laplacians with applications in inverse problems

We prove a unique continuation property for the fractional Laplacian $(-\Delta)^s$ when $s \in (-n/2,\infty)\setminus \mathbb{Z}$. In addition, we study Poincar\'e-type inequalities for the operator $(-\Delta)^s$ when $s\geq 0$. We apply the results to show that one can uniquely recover, up to a gauge, electric and magnetic potentials from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map associated to the higher order fractional magnetic Schr\"odinger equation. We also study the higher order fractional Schr\"odinger equation with singular electric potential. In both cases, we obtain a Runge approximation property for the equation. Boundary quotients and ideals of Toeplitz C∗-algebras of Artin groups

We study the quotients of the Toeplitz C*-algebra of a quasi-lattice ordered group (G,P), which we view as crossed products by a partial actions of G on closed invariant subsets of a totally disconnected compact Hausdorff space, the Nica spectrum of (G,P). Our original motivation and our main examples are drawn from right-angled Artin groups, but many of our results are valid for more general quasi-lattice ordered groups. We show that the Nica spectrum has a unique minimal closed invariant subset, which we call the boundary spectrum, and we define the boundary quotient to be the crossed product of the corresponding restricted partial action. Mean ergodic composition operators on Banach spaces of holomorphic functions

[EN] Given a symbol cc, i.e., a holomorphic endomorphism of the unit disc, we consider the composition operator C-phi(f) = f circle phi defined on the Banach spaces of holomorphic functions A(D) and H-infinity(D). We obtain different conditions on the symbol phi which characterize when the composition operator is mean ergodic and uniformly mean ergodic in the corresponding spaces. These conditions are related to the asymptotic behavior of the iterates of the symbol. Finally, we deal with some particular case in the setting of weighted Banach spaces of holomorphic functions.

Characterisation of upper gradients on the weighted Euclidean space and applications

In the context of Euclidean spaces equipped with an arbitrary Radon measure, we prove the equivalence among several different notions of Sobolev space present in the literature and we characterise the minimal weak upper gradient of all Lipschitz functions.

Dyadic Norm Besov-Type Spaces as Trace Spaces on Regular Trees

In this paper, we study function spaces defined via dyadic energies on the boundaries of regular trees. We show that correct choices of dyadic energies result in Besov-type spaces that are trace spaces of (weighted) first order Sobolev spaces.

Set-valued Brownian motion

Brownian motions, martingales, and Wiener processes are introduced and studied for set valued functions taking values in the subfamily of compact convex subsets of arbitrary Banach space $X$. The present paper is an application of one the paper of the second author in which an embedding result is obtained which considers also the ordered structure of $ck(X)$ and f-algebras.

Fourier analysis of periodic Radon transforms

We study reconstruction of an unknown function from its $d$-plane Radon transform on the flat $n$-torus when $1 \leq d \leq n-1$. We prove new reconstruction formulas and stability results with respect to weighted Bessel potential norms. We solve the associated Tikhonov minimization problem on $H^s$ Sobolev spaces using the properties of the adjoint and normal operators. One of the inversion formulas implies that a compactly supported distribution on the plane with zero average is a weighted sum of its X-ray data.

Bounded elements in certain topological partial *-algebras

We continue our study of topological partial *algebras, focusing our attention to the interplay between the various partial multiplications. The special case of partial *-algebras of operators is examined first, in particular the link between the strong and the weak multiplications, on one hand, and invariant positive sesquilinear (ips) forms, on the other. Then the analysis is extended to abstract topological partial *algebras, emphasizing the crucial role played by appropriate bounded elements, called $\M$-bounded. Finally, some remarks are made concerning representations in terms of the so-called partial GC*-algebras of operators.

Representation Theorems for Indefinite Quadratic Forms Revisited

The first and second representation theorems for sign-indefinite, not necessarily semi-bounded quadratic forms are revisited. New straightforward proofs of these theorems are given. A number of necessary and sufficient conditions ensuring the second representation theorem to hold is proved. A new simple and explicit example of a self-adjoint operator for which the second representation theorem does not hold is also provided.
