The Conservation of Low Complexity Regions in Bacterial Proteins Depends on the Pathogenicity of the Strain and Subcellular Location of the Protein

2021

Low complexity regions (LCRs) in proteins are characterized by amino acid frequencies that differ from the average. These regions evolve faster and tend to be less conserved between homologs than globular domains. They are not common in bacteria, as compared to their prevalence in eukaryotes. Studying their conservation could help provide hypotheses about their function. To obtain the appropriate evolutionary focus for this rapidly evolving feature, here we study the conservation of LCRs in bacterial strains and compare their high variability to the closeness of the strains. For this, we selected 20 taxonomically diverse bacterial species and obtained the completely sequenced proteomes of t…

Proteomic analysis of extracellular vesicles secreted by primary human epithelial endometrial cells reveals key proteins related to embryo implantati…

2022

Abstract Background Successful implantation is dependent on coordination between maternal endometrium and embryo, and the role of EVs in the required cross-talk cell-to-cell has been recently established. In this regard, it has been reported that EVs secreted by the maternal endometrium can be internalized by human trophoblastic cells transferring their contents and enhancing their adhesive and invasive capacity. This is the first study to comprehensively evaluate three EV isolation methods on human endometrial epithelial cells in culture and to describe the proteomic content of EVs secreted by pHEECs from fertile women. Methods Ishikawa cells and pHEECs were in vitro cultured and hormonall…

Phosphorylation of Elp1 by Hrr25 is required for elongator-dependent tRNA modification in yeast.

2014

Elongator is a conserved protein complex comprising six different polypeptides that has been ascribed a wide range of functions, but which is now known to be required for modification of uridine residues in the wobble position of a subset of tRNAs in yeast, plants, worms and mammals. In previous work, we showed that Elongator's largest subunit (Elp1; also known as Iki3) was phosphorylated and implicated the yeast casein kinase I Hrr25 in Elongator function. Here we report identification of nine in vivo phosphorylation sites within Elp1 and show that four of these, clustered close to the Elp1 C-terminus and adjacent to a region that binds tRNA, are important for Elongator's tRNA modification…

Conflicts over the provision and payment of wages of the "pavordías" of the University of Valencia during the second half of the seventeenth century

2002

This article analyzes the cau…

Complementarity between human capital and public infrastructure in industrial comparative advantage

2021

The article examines the role of public capital as an infrastructure service in the acquisition of industrial comparative advantages. To achieve this in this framework, we develop a theoretical model highlighting the complementarity between public and human capital as a mechanism of industrial development, and test this idea using sectoral panel data from 1999 to 2014 across 35 advanced and less advanced countries. Our results show that the sustainable acquisition of a comparative advantage in the production of industrial goods can only be guaranteed by accumulating public capital and human capital. It shows that public infrastructure can only generate industrialization when it is made avai…

Representation Theorems for Solvable Sesquilinear Forms

2017

New results are added to the paper [4] about q-closed and solvable sesquilinear forms. The structure of the Banach space $\mathcal{D}[||\cdot||_\Omega]$ defined on the domain $\mathcal{D}$ of a q-closed sesquilinear form $\Omega$ is unique up to isomorphism, and the adjoint of a sesquilinear form has the same property of q-closure or of solvability. The operator associated to a solvable sesquilinear form is the greatest which represents the form and it is self-adjoint if, and only if, the form is symmetric. We give more criteria of solvability for q-closed sesquilinear forms. Some of these criteria are related to the numerical range, and we analyse in particular the forms which are solvable…

Some coincidence and periodic points results in a metric space endowed with a graph and applications

2015

The purpose of this paper is to obtain some coincidence and periodic points results for generalized $F$-type contractions in a metric space endowed with a graph. Some examples are given to illustrate the new theory. Then, we apply our results to establishing the existence of solution for a certain type of nonlinear integral equation.

Rolewicz-type chaotic operators

2015

In this article we introduce a new class of Rolewicz-type operators in l_p, $1 \le p < \infty$. We exhibit a collection F of cardinality continuum of operators of this type which are chaotic and remain so under almost all finite linear combinations, provided that the linear combination has sufficiently large norm. As a corollary to our main result we also obtain that there exists a countable collection of such operators whose all finite linear combinations are chaotic provided that they have sufficiently large norm.
